2012 Racing Season

Saratoga Race Course Monday, September 3, 2012 Total for the meet... $935.70

We kicked our mythical bankroll up to $1200 to start the 2011 Saratoga thoroughbred race meet - and we'll hold there this season. In past years we've started with $1000, but with the 40-day meet a $1200 bankroll gives us a reasonable $30/day average. Each day we'll use this space to record our mythical best bets and calculate the accumulated wins and losses.

OK -yesterday could have been the meet-maker if 19-1 Emollient had been able to hold on in R2 - and believe me, at mid-stretch I thought that was going to happen. If Emollient had scored we would have cashed an early double worth nearly $150, also our $6 win bet would have returned $125.40 [$41.80/$2] - but the real disappointment was missing the P4 wager. We hit the final three legs - and with a $41 horse to kick it off, followed by an $18 winner, we can only imagine what the P4 would have paid - but it certainly would have moved us into record-setting positive territory.

Instead - it was a slight profit on the day which leaves us within shouting distance of ending in the black. As such - we'll swing for the fences.

NOTE: STOP LOSS IN EFFECT: If at any time during the day we pass the $1200 mark - the plays are over and we'll stick with our profit.
