2012 Racing Season

Saratoga Race Course Thursday, August 30, 2012 Total for the meet... $1111.60 [Updated total for Wednesday: $743.50]

We kicked our mythical bankroll up to $1200 to start the 2011 Saratoga thoroughbred race meet - and we'll hold there this season. In past years we've started with $1000, but with the 40-day meet a $1200 bankroll gives us a reasonable $30/day average. Each day we'll use this space to record our mythical best bets and calculate the accumulated wins and losses.

Yesterday...

Yet another closing week surge -- and yet another closing week surge built on a Sheppard Special. Hedonemewrongsong in R7 was the second longest price in the field at 21-1. Coarsegold was also 21-1 but just a notch shorter-priced. They combined for a super $454.50/$2 exacta. Couldn't have asked for a better finish.

So we sit less than $90 away from the break-even point with five days to go...
