Yesterday

2-12. Nice start - slow finish. Winners in R1 [$4.00] and R3 [$3.70]. Also - well, not much - R1 AB x 16.60; R2 DE x 32.20; R3 ABDE x 6.50 t 39.80 s 299.00.

38,048 reported attendance - spinners grabbed the giveaway T-shirt yesterday. Weather was - dicey. Overcast with sprinkles early - became showery. Eventually downpouring prior and during the R10 Spinaway. However, the racing gods looked kindly on Tom Durkin with the rain stopping after the feature race - in time for Durkin's retirement ceremony in the winner's circle.

The savvy Saratoga crowd gave Tom a rousing ovation when he finished his Spinaway call - again as he walked through the box seat section to the winner's circle - and, of course, multiple times as he entered the winner's circle and was honored during the ceremony.

The crowd chanted his name and "One more year!".

Horsemen, jockeys and racing officials all saluted Tom and Durkin himself gave a heartfelt response - thanking all, including the fans, before concluding, "Long live Saratoga!

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
