RESULTS Saturday, November 27, 2004 Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

Not a bad afternoon. We picked up three winners on top (Aqueduct, $2.80; Hollywood, $8.20, 4.80). And if Badge of Silver could have gotten into gear a little sooner in the Cigar Mile he might have grabbed us another winner. He was closing late but ran out of time. But we can't complain too much in that race as our third choice, Lion Tamer, got the job done at 12-1, with our first and second choices underneath for a nice $358.50/$2 tri box. We also had the nice exacta box there. so that was our best play of the day.

Otherwise, there was a decent mix of gimmicks that put us over the top for the week.

Dutrow entry...Sis City preferred off of a sneaky-good season. She's certainly not going to be considered for season-end honors but ever since the summer claim she's been tough and that fourth in the BC Juvie Filly was impressive. KDs Shady Lady seemed to take to the dirt last time.
Salute...Regally-bred filly from McGaughey/Phipps could wind up being any kind and might even step forward going two turns.
Secrets Galore...Placed in a couple of stakes at Delaware. Nice try over this trip last time despite some trouble.

Galloping Grocer...NY-bred has been stunning in three tries against state-breds. Gets tested against open company today but looks capable.
Rockport Harbor...From the Smarty Jones trainer/jock team. Like the top pick, also undefeated in three starts, including the G3 Nashua last time. The one to beat.
Killenaule...Pletcher 2YO scratched from Laurel Futurity to await this spot.

Badge of Silver...Got off to a very promising career start last year but has been to the bench for extended times since. Now making second start in the care of Frankel. Could be tough if he got something out of that last start.
Pico Central...Likely winner of Eclipse sprint title. Whistled over this track in April. Won Met Mile in only try at the trip. Not invincible but clearly the one to beat.
Lion Tamer...Like the top pick this one has shown some real flashes of promise. Shot his career-best Beyer last time. Capable if able to move forward and not bounce off of that.

Private Horde...Kind of inconsistent this year but clearly likes this trip and was going well before fading while running an extra furlong here last time.
Coach Jimi Lee...A nice little $70K stake like this is right up this one's alley.
Super Fuse...Also should appreciate this company after a couple of graded tries.

BB Best...Florida shipper wired 'em in first try around two turns. Could be tough on the front end again -- but probably won't have it quite as easy on the lead today. Iffy.
Social Probation...Trainer's having a nice meet and this one could be ready for a good try. Came back from two month break to run second in a G3 stake last time.
Storm Surge...The nice stake win on the BC card might signal he's reached top form.

Nothing to Lose...Barnmate of top pick never got untracked in Texas but that Keeneland win was too good to ignore.
Mingun...Euro-invaders are always tough and this one has been competitive in all but his last -- which was against a tough G1 field.

Chattahoochee War...Solid debut win over the downhill course at Santa Anita. Will need to step it up today but these youngsters are always capable of big move forward in their second start.
Petrus...A nose behind Chattahoochee in debut then followed up with a win.
