Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

Three winners on top in eight races (Belmont, $3.00; Delaware, $3.60; Fairplex, $5.40). We also had a couple of cold exactas. But the lack of value and a couple of 1-2-4 near-miss tri's kept us from making a dent in the bankroll department on the afternoon.

WAGERED: $274.00
COLLECTED: $65.70

Turf wagers are turf only

Belmont: Gazelle H'cp G1 $250K

Stellar Jayne 1-2
Daydreaming 5-1
He Loves Me 7-1

Magical Illusion, Capeside Lady scratched.

Wager: $5 WP on Magical Illusion.
Scratched.
...$2 exacta box top two, sub next if scratch.
Collected $10.20 on the ex box ($10.20/$2).
...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $5.10 on the ex box.
...$1 tri box top four, sub Shadow Cast if scratch.
Ran 1-2-4.

Magical Illusion...Her good races have been very good and she might have an excuse in each of her less than good races... First start can be a throw-out. Maybe rushed into the G1 Acorn too soon. Muddy track in the G1 CCA Oaks. We'll know more today but this one could be something special.
Stellar Jayne...Has outperformed our expectations in each of the last four. For some reason we just don't believe in this gal -- but it's hard to ignore the good form.
Daydreaming...Could be ready to fire a big one.
Capeside Lady.

Belmont: Man O War G1 $500K

Magistretti 3-1
Epalo/entry 2-1
King's Drama/entry 2-1
Better Talk Now 6-1

Wager: $5 WP on Better Talk Now.
Ran 4th (3rd for exotic wagering purposes).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 4(3)-5(4).
...$1 tri key Better Talk Now over next three.
Ran 4(3)/2-2-5(4)-8(7).
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-2-4(3)-5(4)-8(7).

Better Talk Now...In good improving form since beginning of season. Last was best yet and has a good try at Belmont.
Request for Parole...Second to top pick last time and has been going well since early this year.
Greek Sun...3YO turfers are very solid this season and this one's only loss was to the very good Kitten's Joy.
Epalo.

Belmont: Woodward G1 $500K

Ghostzapper 2-5
Saint Liam 11-1
Bowman's Band 9-1

Colita scratched.

Wager: $5 WP on Newfoundland.
Ran 5th at 6-1.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 5-6.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 1-5-6.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-5-6.

Newfoundland...Comes out of three straight wars -- three of the toughest races in the division this year. Has run well on this track and might be in a good spot if this race comes up any easier pace-wise than those last three. Of course, that's not guaranteed.
Midway Road...Toss the Foster, that was too bad to be true. Looks to have prepped nicely at Saratoga for this.
Ghostzapper...Two starts this year with two 120+ Beyers including an all-time top number of 128 last time. Could be a superstar for sure -- but we want to see him meet a field of this caliber before handing him the crown.
Colita.

Monmouth: Majestic Prince $60K

Victory alleged 14-1
Honorable Buck 4-1
Dashboard Drummer 5-1

Wager: $5 WP on Forest Grove.
Ran 5th at 6-5.
...$4 exacta box top two.
Ran 3-5.
...$1 tri key Forest Grove over next three.
Ran 5/2-3-7.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-3-5-7.

Forest Grove...Went well in a nice grass stake here on 8/8. No reason why he can't repeat.
Dashboard Drummer...Comes in with some decent dirt stakes experience under belt and might prove to be a little classier than these.
Honorable Buck...Nice win here in last despite trouble.
Bola Soup.

Delaware: Endine H'cp G3 $200K

Ebony Breeze 4-5
Umpateedle 9-1
Bronze Abe 4-1

Wager: $5 WP on Ebony Breeze.
Collected $15.50 on the WP ($3.60, 2.60).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 1-5.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 1-3-4-5.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-3-4-5.

Ebony Breeze...Always in the hunt and comes out of a nose defeat in a good G2 stake at Saratoga.
Travelator...NY-bred dusted open stakes company at Monmouth last time.
Bronze Abe...Long time since missing a trifecta finish.
Electrical Carlita.

Calder: Miami Mile BC H'cp G3 $150K

Twilight Road 5-1
Gold Dollar 12-1
Paradise Dancer 9-1

Stay Forever scratched.

Wager: $5 WP on Stay Forever.
Scratched.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Scratched.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 6-7-8.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 6-7-8.

Stay Forever steps out of two good graded stakes runs out of town. Should find this mostly hometown crowd a little easier.
Class of Seventy...Seems to be in some good improving form.
Tour of the Cat...Won this race last year and might offer some value off of last couple.
Unbridels King.

Calder: Judy's Red Shoes $75K

R Obsession 13-1
Coquinerie 8-1
Shorey Village 4-5

Wager: $5 WP on Shorey Village.
Ran 3rd.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 3-6.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 3-4-6-7.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 3-4-6-7.

Shorey Village...Broke maiden in second start then breezed through next two conditions. Could be good enough to win in stakes debut.
Wekiva Mist...Really has found a home on turf although she seems a little disinclined to win -- but latest might signal a turnaround there.
Blue Grass Dancer...In good form now.
Najibes Acre.

Fairplex: PD Shepherd $60K

Verkade 8-5
Anziyan Royalty 3-2
Sigfreto 6-1

Sanger scratched.

Wager: $5 WP on Verkade.
Collected $20.50 on the WP ($5.40, 2.80).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Collected $9.60 on the ex box ($9.60/$2).
...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $4.80 on the ex box.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-4.

Verkade...Speed from the rail could prove to be helpful on this tight track.
Anziyan Royalty...Also is capable of showing early speed.
Sanger...And yet another that should contest early -- but the outside post won't help.
American Fury.
