Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

June's turning out to be a good month! We started with the huge day back on June 5 -- then last week we nibbled but never got over the hump. But this week was the flip-side of last, we nibbled and while there was nothing especially eye-popping, it was enough to give us a good profit on the day.

Two winners on top in nine races (Belmont, $6.70; Churchill, $10.20). In the gimmick department, we stepped up to the plate and took a stand -- it was the only way to make money in the four-horse field -- in the Phipps at Belmont and grabbed the cold $18.60/$2 exacta. We had a cold tri ($150.80/$2) in the Aristides at Churchill. Our top three boxed for a tri in the Moseley at Suffolk. And our top four boxed for a nice $242.80/$2 tri at Calder.

All told, by the end of the day we had grabbed a solid 73% ROI.

Stolen Time...Been competitive when spotted realistically. Only clunkers were in graded events. Fits here.
P Kerney...Won first start of season against older. Followed by finishing four behind Royal Assault and that one came back to run third in the Belmont.
Frisky Spider...Another that should find this field preferable to those in his graded tries.

My Cousin Matt...Second in this race last year. Set up well for this off of seasonal debut win in tough Belmont optional claimer.
Gators N Bears...Has been in good form for a long time and win in G3 last time shows it continues.
Valid Video...Hmmm, two best races were last summer so maybe he likes the warm weather. Adds blinkers and has been working well.

Ran 2-3-4-5.

Funny Cide...Might be able to sit off of The Lady's Groom and Rogue Agent and get first jump at the top of the lane.
The Lady's Groom...Baring a suicidal duel this one can hold on for a piece.
Evening Attire...Behind Midway road and Southern Image last two -- and either of that pair would probably be favored here.

Debonair Joe...Last should set him up well for today.
Smile n Wildcat...Just missed here in a small stake in latest.
R Baggio.
