Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

June's turning out to be a good month! We started with the huge day back on June 5 -- then last week we nibbled but never got over the hump. But this week was the flip-side of last, we nibbled and while there was nothing especially eye-popping, it was enough to give us a good profit on the day.

Two winners on top in nine races (Belmont, $6.70; Churchill, $10.20). In the gimmick department, we stepped up to the plate and took a stand -- it was the only way to make money in the four-horse field -- in the Phipps at Belmont and grabbed the cold $18.60/$2 exacta. We had a cold tri ($150.80/$2) in the Aristides at Churchill. Our top three boxed for a tri in the Moseley at Suffolk. And our top four boxed for a nice $242.80/$2 tri at Calder.

All told, by the end of the day we had grabbed a solid 73% ROI.

The Lady's Groom...Baring a suicidal duel this one can hold on for a piece.
