Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

We have yet to really hit stride again since the transition was made a few weeks back from the winter-spring meets to the spring-summer meets. Moscow Burning was a concern at Belmont -- but we didn't see her heading to the front to set some cushy fractions. Nice job by Mike Smith. In the Reilly at Monmouth, Transamericanspirit was playable, we just liked ours better. Similar scenario at Philly with Peeping Tom and Churchill with Stay Forever. Wasn't completely convinced about the Florida shipper at Hollywood, particularly at 2-1 -- but hey, I guess Imperialism started a trend.

A couple of frustrating plays as we missed gimmicks at Calder (third pick over top choice for $43.80/$2 exacta) and Delaware (second over third pick for $146.00/$2 exacta) as we limited our plays in both of those races. It wouldn't have put us over the top, but it would have helped.

Otherwise, two winners on top in eleven races (Arlington, $5.60; Bay Meadows, $4.80). And our top pick Remind just missed at Monmouth at 7-1, although our second pick won which translated to some exacta moolah. We had a couple of other gimmicks along the way as well.

Remind...Mott turfer looked to be showing some nice 3YO to 4YO maturity, then faltered last time. But not convinced of the legitimacy of the Ft Marcy as a couple of bombs came in that day. Expect a rebound to prior good form.
Burning Roma...4-2-2-0 turf record including a close-up second in a G2 at Keeneland last time. The one to beat.

Shaconage...Won a similar stake on the Derby undercard at 19-1.
Eternal Melody...Well, with a 42% win-rate in the category we can't ignore a horse making its US debut for Frankel. But we're not sure this New Zealander is as strong as his Euro-imports.
