Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

We rebounded somewhat from last week's poor performance. The problem this week was a lack of value. Four winners on top in thirteen races (Delaware, $4.20, Pimlico, $4.20, $5.00, $3.40).

We also had a couple of cold tri's -- but, as noted, the payouts weren't enough to jolt us into positive territory.

WAGERED: $510.00
COLLECTED: $223.40

Turf wagers are turf only

Belmont: Shuvee H'cp G2 $200K

Storm Flag Flying 1-1

Collected $10.50 on the WP (xxx, 4.20).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 2-3.
...$1 tri key Passing Shot over next three.
Ran 2/1-3-5.

Passing Shot...Jerkens barn going well lately and seems like they have this one in good form right now.
Roar Emotion...Finished behind the very good Sightseek two back and Azeri-conqueror Mayo Onthe Side last time. Scratched from Friday stake at Pimlico for this.
Storm Flag Flying...Has yet to rebound to promising 2YO form but respectable the confidence shown in entering her here.
Elegant Mercedes.

Churchill: Open Mind $100K

Anna Em 6-1
Movant 10-1
Victoire Bataille 9-2

Wager: $5 WP on Victoire Battaile.
Ran 3rd.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 3-4.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 1-3-4-7.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-3-4-7.

Victoire Bataille...Should win in debut. Should take to turf and will be formidable with any improvement.
Dazzle Me...Also makes turf debut but has done nothing wrong in two starts so far.
Speedy Sonata...One of the few in here with turf experience -- including a nice second last time in a Keeneland turf sprint stake.
Anna Em.

Delaware: Sweet & Sassy $75K

Bronze Abe 1-1
Umpateedle/entry 2-1
Rebecca's Charm/entry 2-1
Cupid Season 9-2

Collected $18.80 on the ex box ($9.40/$2).
...$2 tri key Bronze Abe over next two.
Collected $22.60 on the tri key ($22.60/$2).

Bronze Abe...4-2-0-2 in 2004. Should get a cozy trip from the rail under Pino.
Umpateedle...In front of top pick last time. The one to beat.
Cupid Season.

Pimlico: Gallorette H'cp G3 $100K

Ocean Drive 1-1
Film Maker 2-1
With Patience 13-1

Wager: $5 WP on Ocean Drive.

...$1 exacta box top four, sub next if scratch.
Collected $5.20 on the ex box ($10.40/$2).
...$1 tri box top four, sub next if scratch.
Ran 1-2-4-6.

Ocean Drive...Finished second last two -- behind Clement's good Dedication and Frankel's very promising Euro-import Intercontinental. Should break through in this field.
Lady Linda...Layoff is a concern but likes the track and seldom runs a poor one.
Film Maker...We'll assume she needed latest and hope she rebounds to good form in second start of season.
Caught in the Rain.
With Patience.

Pimlico: Hirsch Jacobs $100K

Abbondanza 5-1
Bwana Charlie 5-1
Penn Pacific 5-1

Scratched.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 3-4-5.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 3-4-5.

Teton Forest...Baffert trainee seemed to indicate with latest win that sprinting is his preferred trip.
Wild Wildcat...Showing nice improvement with each start.
Redskin Warrior...Return to 6F should help.
Penn Pacific.

Pimlico: Woodlawn $100K

Artie Schiller 5-2
Lipan 7-1
Timo 8-5

Wager: $5 WP on Timo.
Ran 3rd.
...$2 exacta box top two.

...$1 exacta box top four, sub next if scratch.
Ran 1-3-12-13.
...$1 tri box top four, sub next if scratch.
Ran 1-3-12-13.

Timo...Toss out troubled trip two back and this one is always right there. Good G3 win after three-month break signals good form.
Artie Schiller...Clearly prefers the turf where he's a solid 4-3-1-0.
Urban Warrior...Might add some value here. Off since February but undefeated in two turf tries -- albeit both sprints.
Victory Light.
Big Booster.

Pimlico: Schaefer H'cp G3 $100K

Seattle Fitz 3-2
The Lady's Groom 2-1
Roaring Fever 7-2

Cherokee's Boy scratched.

Collected $19.80 on the tri box ($39.60/$2).

Seattle Fitz...Just looks a little better than these.

Roaring Fever...Could be rounding into good form.
Cherokee's Boy.

Pimlico: Sir Barton $100K

Royal Assault 7-2

...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 5-7.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 1-5-6-7.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-5-6-7.

Preachinatthebar...Baffert 3YO is probably better suited at this 'second-string' stakes level.
P Kerney...Has the ability to surprise. Came back from long layoff to win a NW1. Could be tough on the stretchout.
Irish Laddie...Improving in each 2004 start.
Royal Assault.

Pimlico: Dixie G2 $200K

Mr O'Brien 11-1
Millenium Dragon 7-1
Warleigh 8-1

Wager: $5 WP on Herculated.

Ran 2-10.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 2-3-7-10.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-3-7-10.

Herculated...Hmmm, did he really mature nicely from 3 to 4, or did he just like the cajun cuisine this winter. We'll know more today.
Millenium Dragon...Proven graded winner should move forward in second start of season.
Warleigh...Has gone 6-3-2-0 since being claimed for $80K last summer -- and that includes three stakes wins.
Wando.

Soaring Free...G1 level performer on turf but has won on dirt as well.
Iron Halo...SoCal shippers are always tough in these types of events.
Gators N Bears...Always in the hunt.
Gracious Humor.

The Preakness G1 $1 mil

Smarty Jones 3-5
Rock Hard Ten 6-1
Eddington 13-1

Wager: $5 WP on Smarty Jones.
Collected $16.00 on the WP (3.40, 3.00).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 1-4.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $12.30 on the ex box ($24.60/$2).
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-4-6.

Smarty Jones...We've been using him on top since the Count Fleet at Aqueduct. No reason to jump off now. Should be able to sit a trip similar to Derby and get the job done turning for home.
Lion Heart...Unless you feel strongly about any of the newcomers it seems silly to defy the finish from two weeks ago.
Sir Shackleton...Up-and-comer from Zito barn gets tested today -- but looked good winning the G3 Derby Trial.
Rock Hard Ten.

Hollywood: Senorita G3 $100K

Miss Vegas 2-1

...$1 tri box top four.
Collected $28.30 on the tri box ($56.60/$2).

Ticker Tape...Won a similar stake last time. Why not a repeat?
Freakin Streakin...Has improved nicely in three starts. Gets tested for class today.
Miss Vegas...Can't ignore this Euro-import on connections alone: Frankel/Gann.
Amorama.

Bay Meadows: San Jose $55K

Heavenly Humor/entry 6-5
Secret Corsage/entry 6-5
Eight Karat 11-1

Wager: $5 WP on Lost Bride.
Ran 7th at 5-2.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 4-7.
...$1 tri key Lost Bride over next three.
Ran 7/1-4-6.

Lost Bride...One of those with positive two-turn experience. Tactical speed should help.
Apollonesian...Solid career so far. Tough if she's able to stretchout.
Hollendorfer entry...Secret Corsage needs to regain 2YO form. Heavenly Humor is going well but distance is a question mark.
Tequila Lana.
