Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

Not a bad afternoon -- although we just weren't able to break-out wagering-wise.

Two winners on top in nine tries (Keeneland, $4.40; Santa Anita, 2.80). We also managed a great mix of gimmicks. Our top two combined in cold or reversed order for three exactas. In two other races our top three boxed for tri's. Although it wasn't on our wagering menu, our top four boxed for the $323.20/$2 super in the Tesio. And the profit for the day could have been a little better but we were nosed out of a tri at Aqueduct and necked at Gulfstream.

WAGERED: $424.00
COLLECTED: $425.75

Turf wagers are turf only

Aqueduct: Bed O Roses BC H'cp G3 $150K

Passing Shot 7-1
Smok'n Frolic 3-5
Nonsuch Bay 9-2

Wager: $5 WP on Smok'n Frolic.
Collected $6.50 on the WP (xxx, 2.60).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Collected $39.40 on the Ex box ($39.40/$2).
...$1 tri key Smok'n Frolic over next three.
Ran 2/1-4-5.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-4-5.

Smok'n Frolic...Pletcher mare loves this surface -- come out of a G3 win here last time despite trouble.
Passing Shot...Might add some value here coming out of two dull efforts -- but expect improvement in third start of 2004.
Victory Encounter...Gotta hope that last was a fluke. Can't ignore these SoCal invaders.
Princess Dixie.

Keeneland: Stravinsky $75K

Dyna Da Wyna 6-5
Boozin' Susan 7-1
Put Me In 8-1

Wager: $5 WP on Dyna Da Wyna.
Collected $18.50 on the WP (4.40, 3.00).

...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $12.70 on the ex box.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-10-12.

Dyna Da Wyna...6-10 on the turf including a stakes win here last fall. Opened 2004 with a good turf sprint win.
Boozin' Susan...Changed barns two back and then faltered last time which raises questions -- but certainly capable sprinting on the lawn.
Mooji Moo...Been going well on dirt recently and shows a nice turf sprint win four back.
Run Sarah Run.

Keeneland: Lexington G2 $325K

Quintons Gold Rush 5-1
Fire Slam 9-2
Song of the Sword 4-1

Wager: $5 WP on Bride's Best Boy.

...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 3-7-11-14.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 3-7-11-14.

Bride's Best Boy...Faltered in first try around two turns -- but has another sprint win under belt since. Let's hope the experience factor helps him today.
Song of the Sword...Hard to fault his record so far -- three wins followed by a second in the Illinois Derby. Loses regular jock today though.
Saratoga County...Talent came through with Gotham win last time. First time around two-turns though and 14-post won't help.

Pimlico: Jim McKay BC H'cp $150K

The Lady's Groom 5-1
Unforgettable Max 2-5
Irish Colony 38-1

Wager: $5 WP on Your Bluffing.
Ran 5th at 6-1.

Ran 2-5.
...$1 tri key Your Bluffing over next three.

Your Bluffing...Seems to have perhaps gained some valuable maturity as a 4YO.
Unforgettable Max...Will be tough if able to rebound to pre-blinkers form.
My Kind of Town...Comes into this in good form with a three-race win streak.
Gill entry.

Pimlico: Federico Tesio $100K

...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $13.50 on the ex box.
...$1 tri box top four.
Collected $80.80 on the tri box ($161.60/$2).

Pawyne Princess...Filly might have found a good spot to take on the boys. Triple digit Beyer in latest signals talent.
Water Cannon...Riding a four-race streak, including two stakes.
Paddington...Dickinson trainee put together a nice 2YO season. Off since November but certainly the trainer can have them ready.
Irish Laddie.

...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-4-9.

Petrina Above...Came out of a March 26 turf sprint to win this race last year... Comes out of a turf sprint on 3/26 again this year. All systems go for repeat?
Desirable Moment...Likes the track and the trip including win here last time.

Bedanken...Solid 6-5-0-1 record since moving to turf -- all stakes.
Janeian...Solid stakes-winning turfer. Off since November but working well.
Full Time Dancer...Seems to have really gotten the hang of it this season.
Cat's Cat.

Santa Anita: Santa Barbara H'cp G2 $200K

Megahertz...Certainly likes this course -- would be 6-for-9 here except for the DQ last time. Has demonstrated the ability to win at the trip.

Trieste's Honor...Woke up with move to NoCal.
