Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

WAGERED: 304.00
COLLECTED: 215.90

Turf wagers are turf only

Belmont: Coaching Club American Oaks

Spoken Fur 4-5
Fircroft 17-1
Savedbythelight 6-1

Wager: $5 WP on Yell.
Ran 4th at 3-2
...$5 exacta box top two.
Ran 1-4.
...$2 tri key Yell over next three.
Ran 4/1-3-5.
...$1 tri key Spoken Fur over next three.
Ran 1/3-4-5.

Yell...Second best to Spoken Fur last time -- but we'll give a slight, slight edge here on two-turn experience.
Spoken Fur...Benefitted last time from the Frankel magic, winning first out for that barn in the G1 Mother Goose. Clearly the one to beat but distance and two turns are a question mark.
Little Bonnet...Lightly raced which means there's still some upside potential. Trainer is having a good summer.
Savedbythelight.

Monmouth: Bernie Dowd

Sheryar Special 7-2
Our Wildcat 2-1
Beknown to Me 5-1

Wager: $5 WP on Second Collection.
Ran 5th at 2-1.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 2-5.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-4-5-7.

Second Collection...Undefeated on the track and when facing state-breds. Should be ready in second start of season.
Our Wildcat...Expect a good try with return to main surface.
HMS Jackson...Ran second in this event last year and should move forward with first try this year over a fast surface.
River Power.

Monmouth: Eatontown

Stylish 2-1
Something Ventured 9-2
Sweet Deimos 11-1

Wager: $5 WP on Something Ventured.
Collected $10.00 on the WP (xxx, 4.00).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 2-3.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $15.60 on the ex box ($31.20/$2).
...$1 tri box top four.
Collected $119.00 on the tri box ($238.00/$2).

Something Ventured...Pletcher filly won minor Belmont stake last time and looks to be coming into this one in good form.
Sweet Deimos...Euro-import has been improving in four stateside starts.
Stylish...Mott turfer was an OK 4th two back in nice Churchill stake. Followed that with a good stakes win at Canterbury.
Love N Kiss S.

Calder: Nancy's Glitter

Stormy Frolic 2-1
Redoubled Miss 3-5
Urbana Light 20-1

Wager: $5 WP on Redoubled Miss.
Collected $5.50 on the WP (xxx, 2.20).
...$3 exacta box top two.
Ran 1-5.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $6.80 on the ex box ($13.60/$2).
...$1 tri key Redoubled Miss over next three.
Ran 2/1-4-5.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-4-5.

Redoubled Miss...Wins at a solid 40% over this track. Second last time in a smaller stake but expect better over a 'fast' surface.
Scottish Bubbly...Faltered slightly last time in first non-exacta finish in last nine tries. We'll excuse that one and look for a rebound to top form.
Sierra Lady...Makes third start of '03. Last was a nice win. And is 3-2-0-0 over track.
Stormy Frolic.

Canterbury: Claiming Crown Jewel

Daunting 7-5
Freeze Alert 9-2
Patton's Victory 5-2

Wager: $5 WP on Native Two Stepper.
Ran 7th at 7-1.
...$2 exacta box top two.
Ran 1-7.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 1-3-7-8.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-3-7-8.

Native Two Stepper...Shuman/Gill have moved up some claims to stakes wins already this year.
Daunting...SoCal shipper could be tough if able to get the early lead.
Northwest Hill...Seems to have come to hand nicely of late.
Patton's Victory.

Hollywood: H'wood Juv Champ

Perfect Moon 3-1
Blairs Roarin Star 15-1
Ruler's Court 1-5

Wager: $20 quinella top two.
Ran 1-3.

Ruler's Court...Big debut win tabs him as the one to beat here.
Perfect Moon...Decent second in a stake last time and experience counts with the freshmen.

Hollywood: Valkyr

Shalini 1-2
Sunset Serenade 6-1
Calzada Kid 21-1

Wager: $5 WP on Shalini.
Collected $13.50 on the WP (3.00, 2.40).
...$2 exacta box top two.
Collected $10.80 on the ex box ($10.80/$2).
...$1 exacta box top four.
Collected $5.40 on the ex box.
...$1 tri box top four.
Collected $29.30 on the tri box.

Shalini...Likes the track and typically goes well in these Cal-bred events.
Sunset Serenade...Has yet to win in three tries over the course -- but hasn't missed the board. Also likes the trip.
Icantgoforthat...Might try to steal it on the front end.
Calzada Kid.
