Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

Frustrating afternoon. We had a good run into the stretch drive in virtually every race on the C2C card but ours just couldn't quite managed to get there when it counted. Three short priced winners (Calder $5.60, $3.00; Hollywood, $5.80) on top over ten races. We also managed a handful of gimmicks but they were value-less. The kickers though were some we missed. Two of ours ran second and third in the DeFrancis at 16-1 and 8-1 -- an exacta that would have certainly brought a smile to our face. Plus, we ran a gut-busting 1-2-4 in a couple of tri plays -- including one at Calder where the top two were 9-5 and 10-1, and our fourth place horse (by a diminishing half length) was 34-1! The tri with a 4-1 shot in the show spot paid $217.60/$2 so we can only imagine what ours would have been.

Oh well, coulda, woulda, shoulda... But for a few more feet we would have had a good day...
