0-10. Whiffed! Ooooph! Did manage to grab some exotics with the plays - but overall opening day was a struggle.

Wow - 34, 783 attended. It was - for the most part - a nice day weather-wise. However, there was a weather-scare before the 5th race. The horse were on the track when some threatening clouds were seen looking towards the far turn. Bolts of lightning flashed. And shortly thereafter an announcement was made that the national weather service had declared a tornado warning - the horses for the 5th were called back to the paddock. Within about fifteen minutes the skies had cleared and the sun reappeared and the weather rebounded to "nice" - sunnay and comfortable - and remained that way through the rest of the card and throughout the evening.

Post-race watering holes Siro's and The Horseshoe were jammed - downtown was also hoppin' later on in the night.

Yesterday

No racing.

Today

Hats Off music fest. Musical acts line Saratoga's main street - keeping things hopping downtown from 7-11pm.

FIRST RACE
Boalt Hall...Just keying on the auction price and the connections.
Moon King...Sibs not necessarily precocious - but worked a snappy 10.1 before 2YO sale.
Metal Magic...Experience counts.
Totally Discreet.

SECOND RACE
English Minister...Beaten fave seems in good form.
Adirondack Dancer...In front of top pick last time.
Speeding Comet...Solid vs similar first off claim last time.
Bam Bam.

THIRD RACE
Jungle Jumble...Some precocious sibs including Reunion - a debut winner in May at CD.
Smarty Kitten...From potent connections - so, can't ignore but beaten as chalk in debut and a full-sib took ten to win.
Dissident... FOURTH RACE
Stay Tuned...Hard to go past this one on the numbers.
Bird Prince...Interesting off the claim.
Danzig Storm...Looks to fit with these.
Ogermeister.

FIFTH RACE
Greenpointcrusader...Expensive yearling purchase has some precocious sibs. Trainer good with firsters.
Horner Man...Sib Cee's My Lady won debut.
Saratoga Mischief...Another expensive auction buy going out for solid connections.
Show Bound.

SIXTH RACE
Dowse's Beach...Off the latest.
Asset Inflation...Speedy. Claimed, Just behind top pick last time.
Lewys Vaporizer...Grass is the question mark?
Glowing Ember.
Liberal Spin.

SEVENTH RACE
Callista...Solid debut.
Mayla...Just behind top pick three back. Nice maiden-breaker in latest.
Regent's House...Seems capable of improvement.
Sister Margaret.

EIGHTH RACE
Market Outlook... Going with the high percentage trainer in a tough race to pick.
Plainview...Possible theft on the class drop?
Flashlight...More speed.
Barrel of Love.

NINTH RACE - G3 $150K Sanford
Cocked and Loaded...undefeated in two starts - including a stakes win.
Paynes Prairie...Nice improvement in first three.
He's Comin in Hot...Won a CD stake last time.
Twirling Cinnamon... (Sneaking suspicion he might be a live longshot.)

TENTH RACE - G1 $500K Diana
Tepin...In good form but stretches out.
Lady Lara...Better than the last two finishing positions.
Stephanie's Kitten...Close-up finishes in this race the last two years.
Waltzing Matilda.

ELEVENTH RACE
Regulus...Won simialr last time.
Looking Cool...First off the claim for crafty trainer. 20-1 ML seems out of whack.
Classic Salsa...Plenty of speed.
Ruble.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
