Yesterday

1-9. Seemed like a tough day for most handicappers - at least as far as winners-on-top - and we were no exception. Winner in R1 [3.90]. Gimmicks: R1 ... Aentry-D-Aentry-B x 25.00 t 95.00; R2 ...DBA x 104.50 t 452.00; R4 ... De-A-B "C" scr x 35.20 t 72.50; R5 ... C-B-F-D x 27.00 t 65.50 s 291.00; R7 ...CDx x 41.60.

13775 attended. Weather was sunny, warm and humid.

There was some rain Thursday night - but the Friday forecast looks good.

Family Friday: Friday marks the meet's sixth Family Friday, held each Friday from noon to 4 p.m.

FIRST RACE
Havana...Stuck in the 1-hole but can't ignore the high-powered connections... Or the expensive price at the 2YO sale... Or the fastest work at that sale - 9.3
Kendall's Boy...Win-early sire and trainer. Sib Lily Olay started career earlier this year going 5-2-2-1.
Financial Mogul...Beaten fave in debut but connections typically do well here with their 2YOs.
Kowboy King.

SECOND RACE - $100K Chowders First
Night Maneuver...Hard to ignore the big win here in the latest effort.
NFs Destiny...Likely the one to catch.
The Lumber Guy...Undoubtedly has a class edge on these - but last couple were disappointments. Now back from a layoff and eligible to rebound - but we want to see this one before jumping back onboard.
Socialsaul/Spa City Fever.

THIRD RACE
Ground Force...Perhaps a slight Beyer edge - and some class relief off of the last two or three.
Crackerjack Jones...Lightly-raced and brings in a two-race win-streak.
Coaltown Legend...Have a feeling he's better than latest.
Dehere of the Cat.

FOURTH RACE
Yo Blue...Drops for Ramsey juggernaut.
Unbridled Logic...Lightly-raced this year but seemed improved off te last few.
Pyro City...Looks to fit with these.
Balerino.
Dirt: Yo Blue, Drum Roll, Unbridled Logic, Thingamajigger, Coach AJ.

FIFTH RACE
Ziggy the Great...Good first-out numbers for sire and trainer. Dam's first foal.
Maybrys Challenge...Likely to be competitive in debut.
Ainteasybeinggreen...Ward runner showed speed in debut and is absolutely eligible to improve off of that foundation. Dangerous.
Pete's Fleet.

SIXTH RACE
Lutesifer...Pletcher runner gets serious class relief - plus a cutback and a move turf-to-dirt. Not in love with this one off of the first two - but some angles to like in a weak field.
Klaravich entry...Volatile Markets has similar scenario to top pick. Herd Mentality needs to rebound off of last two - but also drops and brings in a bullet work.
El Dreamer...Could prove interesting off of the two, improving efforts here.
Optionality.

SEVENTH RACE
Bustle...Moving to what is probably a realistic level.
Rice entry...Both halves look capable off of their latest efforts.
Alwaysinmycircle...Has some early foot.
Julesco.
Dirt: Casual Elegance, Another Page, Julesco, Rock Show.

EIGHTH RACE
Double the Energy...Dud off the layoff but eligible to rebound with move in for a tag.
Elusive Rumor...Has been competitive in minor stakes over the last few - dating back to last year.
Subtle...A good turf sprinter.
Jitney.
Dirt: Double the Energy, Jitney, Sentinmental Lass, Fiftyfour Forever.

NINTH RACE - G1 $500K Ballerina
Book Review...In from SoCal for Baffert. Likes this trip and won here last summer.
Dance to Bristol...Six-race win-streak in cludes a G2 here on 7/29.
Starship Truffles...Solid win in CRC G1 in latest effort.
Judy the Beauty.

TENTH RACE
Marine Patrol...Winner facing maidens [he was DQ'd from win in debut effort at Arlington].
Doc Cebu...Pletcher trainee has two good, improving efforts on grass. Adds blinkers today.
King of Broadway...Tries turf - but last effort was promising.
Mr Jenney.
Grand Giant.
Secretive.
Dirt: King of Broadway, Howie's Tiz, Town Extension, Marine Patrol.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
