Don't forget to check out the Challenge page where we started the month with a mythical $1200 bankroll and attempt to increase that amount as the Saratoga season continues.

Yesterday

3-10. Winners in the 6th [5.40], 7th [10.20], and 10th [6.30]. Gimmicks using the picks: R1... DAx x 44.40; R2 ... BCA x 21.20 t 28.00; R3 ... DCA x 42.00 t 149.50; R4 ... BEx x 93.50; R9 ... CDx x 43.20.

13029 attended. Weather was warm and sunny.

After the 10th race nightcap it looked like some devoted fan found his/her final resting place on the Saratoga homestretch when a young woman walked onto the track and sprinkled ashes - or something - near the finish line area. At the racetrack in Saratoga for eternity...

Today

FIRST RACE
Bluegrass Summer...Sheppard runner looked good winning jump debut. Needs to rebound to that effort.
Albany Road...Second on the flats at PID should have him primed for this.
Royal Fling Shot...Another Sheppard jumper - the question mark is the long layoff.
Ballet Boy.

SECOND RACE - AP Smithwyck Mem G1 $100K
Hunt Ball...Jumping is a much more mainstream part of racing across the pond - so this guy might prove tough. Had Sheppard on TV with me Wednesday and he was concerned that Hunt Ball might want more distance. We'll see...
Demonstrative...Jump Eclipse finalist last year looked good in seasonal debut.
Divine Fortune...Also an Eclipse finalist last year - just nipped by Demonstrative in latest. Didn't run well here last year - but won this race in 2010 and 2011.
Spy in the Sky.

THIRD RACE
Deadicated Deal...Taking a shot in a race where you can there are pro's and con's for most... This one got some education over the track last time and now drops in for a tag.
Let's Have Us One...Asmussen runner went well here last year - albeit against cheaper.
Apex...Hmmm. Showed promise in first three starts. Last two not so encouraging however. But might win this for fun with the class relief.
Political Force.
Confrontation.

FOURTH RACE
Native Singer...Nice improvement in second career start. Now cuts back one furlong.
Escape to the Moon...Full sib won debut at BEL last October for same connections.
One More Chief...Good looking debut.
Thnxtomyuncle.

FIFTH RACE
Rapid Burn...Numbers improving over last two and could be primed to pop in third start of 2013 and dropping in for $35K.
Buckwheat...Showed speed on turf and might last longer with the class relief.
Tapulous...Just missed at this level two back.
Trusted Choice.
Dirt: Tapulous, Ramsey entry, Trusted Choice, Boogie Too, Mr Style.

SIXTH RACE - Morrissey $100K
Saratoga Snacks... Tough if able to repeat latest effort.
Saginaw...The win machine.
Mine Over Matter...Second to top pick last time.

SEVENTH RACE
Wayward Sailor...Might prove interesting if able to flash the early speed.
Colizeo...Has some back class.
Liquidity Trap...Should fit here.
Kingsford Drive.
Dirt: Colizeo, Itsagoodtendollars, Blue Creek, Kingsford Drive, Vindication Now.

EIGHTH RACE
Fiddlers Afleet...Class relief.
Wild Target...Ran well here last year.
Sam Sparkle...Class relief.
Romancing the Gold.

NINTH RACE
Formative...Hoping she's better than the latest effort.
Free as a Bird...In good form.
Scenario Analysis...Consistent numbers put this one in the mix here.
Run a Risk.
Dirt: Expression, Roman Invader, Composition, Geisha Girl, Malibu Holiday.

TENTH RACE
Crafty Push...Won here last year with a lifetime best Beyer. Have to hope seasonal debut was an aberration.
Little Gabby Girl...In good form now.
Midnightinpositano...Woke up with return to dirt.
Blue Sixty Four.

ELEVENTH RACE
Jess Not Jesse...Seems best on the numbers. 3-3 on this track. BUT - off since Sept.
Awakino Cat...Back class.
Valediction...Have to hope for a wake-up call with the class relief.
Yield Bogey.
Dirt: Poised to a Tee, Reserved Quality, Martini Madness, Valediction.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
