Yesterday

2-11. Ooooff - tough day. Winners in the 4th [6.30] and 10th [7.30]. Had some gimmicks that took some of the sting out - but it felt like a struggle all afternoon. [R1 ... CBx x 49.60; R4 ... Ab-Bc-x x 20.80; R5 ... BDC x 57.50 t 168.00; R10 ... ADx x 50.00]

Crowd reported at 47132 - but of course that number was spinner-inflated on T-shirt giveaway day. There was a steady drizzle for much of the afternoon - although the sun peeked out occasionally towards the end of the card.

Today

Saratoga Trading Card Set: Monday marks the debut of a new collectible item for the 2013 meet - the “History of the Game” Saratoga Trading Cards. The trading card set honors a number of the most memorable thoroughbreds, trainers, jockeys and races to have been associated with Saratoga Race Course over the past 150 years. The first set of the limited edition collectible cards will be available for $2 each in the Grandstand near the Saratoga Styles Gift Shop.

Sports journalist Mike Kane and National Museum of Racing historian Allan Carter will give a presentation based on their new book titled "150 Years of Racing in Saratoga: Little Known Stories and Facts from America's Most Historic City" during a public lecture at the Saratoga Springs Public Library at 7:30 p.m. A book signing will follow their presentation.

FIRST RACE
Madris...Beyer edge.
Pyro City..Looks second best.
Life's a Roar...Could be dangerous on the front-end.
Fluent.
Dirt: Madris, Chardsey, Tape It, Cash Your Ticket, Bashful Bandit.

SECOND RACE
Flores Island...Thie one to beat - IF the form holds on dirt.
Wedding Toast...Might be interesting on the stretchout in the second career start.
Lunar Surge...Second start for red-hot Weaver.
Proud Vixen.

THIRD RACE
Aireofdistinction...Tries turf in first start for Asmussen. Rosario rides.
Mahna...Has shown life last two. Also trying turf for the first time.
Quay...Good debut effort.
I'm Smokin Hot.
Dirt: Same plus Hot Stones, True Courage.

FOURTH RACE
Big Screen...Clearly the one to beat on best effort.
Cease...In for a tag today - albeit $100K - ran third in the G1 Woodward here in 2012.
Dubb entry...Tech Fall is preferred - but the layoff is clearly a concern.
Flashy Sunrise.

FIFTH RACE
River Boss...Looks best but have to admit the move in for a $35K tag is a concern.
Logan Street...Seems in good form this season.
Cashleigh...Has some closing punch.
Hyman Roth.
Bold Forest.
Dirt: One Golden Road, Bold Forest, Chalybeate Springs, Cashleigh.

SIXTH RACE
Dr Figawi...Good-looking debut win in December. Sib to Saratoga stakes-winner Dance Gal Dance.
Countknickerbocker...Ran well here last year and could be primed in third start back.
Stoneless...Seemed to take to the turf in last two.
Deferred Asset.
Dirt: Marriedtothemusic, Dr Figawi, Ambassador Bridge, Lord of Love, Fiona's Hero.

SEVENTH RACE
Ultimate Empire...Took a while to figure things out but has gone well last two.
Piscesbymoonlight...Tough if able to rebound to numbers fired back in 2011 - and first two of this year are moving in the right direction.
Sea to Sky...Off since March but capable on best.
Saturday Appeal.

EIGHTH RACE
Dance to Bristol...Md shipper was a convincing winner of a G3 at BEL last time.
Livi Mackenzie...Has been competitive all year.
Burban...Big win at CD in latest.
Glorious View.

NINTH RACE
Caribbean Lady...Drops for first start on return to Dutrow.
Revenue...Also finding some class relief.
Nice Stuff...Ran well at this level last time. Gets Rosario today.
Bullet Baby.
Dirt: Delightful Dawn, Flashy in Pink, She's Gosphel, Elusive Jodi.

TENTH RACE
Typhoon Teri...Returns to dirt and in for a tag.
Mononoke...Better than latest.
Scienziato...looks dangerous on the numbers and move from MSW - but still needs to prove it on dirt.
Ferritto.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
