3-11. Winners in the 1st [3.30], 4th [6.10], and 7th [4.60]. Friday we were disappointed when our Sheppard play just got caught at the wire to run 2nd at 7-1. Saturday the disappointment was our 5-1 "A" top pick in R2, Stroll to Victory, who finally got in gear very late and just missed catching the winner.

Other gimmicks on the day: R6 ... BAx x 39.00; R7 ... ABC x 58.00 t 230.50; R8 ... BAx x 56.50.

25375 attended. A solid crowd turned out now that the weather has turned. The heat and humidity of the first few days has given way to sun and comfortable temps.

The crowd was treated to a solid day of racing with two G1s and a salty edition of the G2 Jim Dandy which might have crowned a pro-tem leader of the 3YO division in Palace Malice. Another highlight was the win in R4 by John Velazquez - appropriately for Todd Pletcher, the victory was a record-breaker for the jockey, pushing him past Jerry Bailey as the all-time leading rider at Saratoga.

Saratoga T-Shirt Giveaway: Saratoga Race Course patrons can pick up the first giveaway of the season: a free Saratoga short sleeve t-shirt, with paid admission, while supplies last.

Play It Loud...Lightly-raced but has shown potential. 7/15 bullet work catches our eye too.
Joha...Finished just behind same foe that beat top pick.
Winning Cause...Has shown flashes and also had a good 7/15 work.
On dirt: Tenango, The Truth and KG, Bellarmine, Winning Cause.

Murmure...Pletcher firster. Lemon Drop Kid on top bodes well for grass success. Sib Medolina won career debut for a $75K tag going as mile on grass at GP in 2011. Sib Skating won second career start.
Illapa...Has some precocious breeding.
Granny Mc's Kitten...Sib Kitten's Dumplings won career debut here last year going two turns on grass.
Spangled Banner.
On dirt: Dancing House over same as above.

Town Flirt...This one is probably better than the latest - and the trainer is red-hot.
Riolama...Typically displays some closing punch.
Strike Charmer...Seems on the improve.
Pompa entry.
On dirt: Galloping giraffe, Lady Kierkegaard, Miss Lamour, Secret Union, Belle Gallantey.

Tapulous...looks to have a slight Beyer edge on this bunch.
Barrister Jim...Should fit with these.
So Outspoken...Repole/Pletcher runner hasn't shown much in first two and is running for less than a tenth of purchase price.
Prince Curlin.

Volatile Markets...Owner doing well early in this meet.
Mike and Rob...In the hunt more often than not.
Irish Jade...Needs to rebound to prior numbers.
On dirt: Same plus, Bernardo, Privatize, Face the Race.

Sky Lover...Comes right back at $20K off the claim for Maker/Ramsey.
Freud's Debut...Could be primed to go well in third start back.
Life's a Roar...Should benefit from seasonal debut.
Smiling Bob.
Mr Starr's Report.
On dirt: The Sixties, Too Much Talk, Silent Thunder, One Smokin Cat.

August Osage...Might pop in third start of 2013 for Rudy.
Cape Glory...Ky shipper finds some class relief.
Hey Leroy...Drops back to price of win and claim for Maker/Ramsey.
Mister Woolman.

Top Tier Lass...First off the claim for Rudy.

Midnight Taboo...Scratched from Friday's Curlin for this spot.
Norumbega...Capable of contending here.
Cary Street...Cold be dangerous on the move from CD.
Cap the Moment.

TENTH RACE - G2 $200K Amsterdam
Forty Tales...Solid 3YO stakes sprinter.
Rainbow Heir...4-4 and would be no surprise.
Declan's Warrior...Nipped by top pick last time.
Mico Margarita.

Without Regard...Right back at the same level as claim for crafty connections.
Thingamajigger...Takes another drop.
Purple Pico...Been hitting the board recently.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
