Yesterday

2-10. Winner in the 2nd [$4.80] and 8th [$2.50]. In R3 at C-D-B finish for the exacta [$66.50/$2] and tri [$213.00]. A nice reverse exacta in the 5th [$28.20].

Probably gave one or two away on a day when many public handicappers had four on top. However, even with 20-20 hindsight I'm OK having taken a slight shot against thePletcher/Zayat firster going for the $35K tag. That seemed like an OK spot to take a shot against a Pletcher 2YO - he can't win 'em all. But, I'd probably like to have back my stab against Union Victory in the 6th. Locally owned (at least until being claimed out of this race) by Roddy Valente, this one seemed to have a pace advantage on the field. It didn't quite play out that way as Union Victory never could shake clear of a speed duel and had to battle all the way to the wire for the victory - but on paper I probably should have moved that one up from my #2 spot in the race. Hopefully though those kinds of choices will even out in the end. We'll see...

Highlight of the afternoon was the seasonal debut of last year's 2YO filly champ My Miss Aurelia. She stumbled out of the gate but recovered abd won like a champ should.

17,559 attended and it was another sunny, warm, and muggy afternoon.
Today

FIRST RACE - $75K Mrs Phipps
Maya Charli... Speed duel in a 2 1/16 mile race? Well, while thereare two or three that have shown a propensity for the front - this one looks like the 'speed' of the 'speed'. Might take them all the way.
Well Fashioned...Second in this race last year and is perhaps a little more seasoned than some others in here.
Sweet Shani...Sheppard trainee should improve on seasonal debut.
Euro Power.

SECOND RACE
Summer Revival...Nature and nuture with Pure Prize on top and Ward as the trainer.
All Keyed Up... Similar scenario to the Pletcher/Zayat first-out winner yesterday that went for a similar tag. Might regret not using this one on top too.
Jacksalildevil... The 'other' Ward.
Yankee Mickey.

THIRD RACE
Overanalyze...Pletcher/Repole firster by Dixei Union. Sib Mighty Monsoon was a debut winner. G1-winning sib Meadow Breeze also won first out. Cost $380K as a yearling.
Nevada...First foal from the dam - but another expensive Pletcher firster from a potent win-early sire.
Tyjar...Has some breeding punch and a trainer that can have them ready. Worked 10.0 before sale. 10-pound bug onboard.
Boston Proper.

FOURTH RACE
Overextended...Third start of the meet and could be well-spotted in a conditional $20K clm.
Madman Diaries...Serious class relief - but also a 10-pound apprentice.
Flying Pegasus...Also taking a drop.
Orsonian/The Zipster.

FIFTH RACE
Endorphins Fly...Well-bred firster from Mott/Live Oak. We'll take a shot in a competitive race - as this one could be special, but might want longer.
Asunder...Has a little bit of breeding and a nice string of works.
Jump for Kitten... Could benefit from the first-out education.
Sayaad.

SIXTH RACE
Concert Stage...In good form when last seen and seems spotted to win.
Veiled Prophet...Will be rolling late.
Vanquisher...8YO moves from stakes to claimer.
Good Prospect.
Short Shrift.

SEVENTH RACE
Dorothy's Spirit...Dangerous on the drop.
Stormy Beauty...AE. The one to catch if she gets in.
Richbelle...Improved 3YO?
Lady Lizzy.
Romolo's Juliet.

EIGHTH RACE
Readtheprospectus...Some trouble in debut. Will be trouble today if able to improve off of that.
Pearl of Wisdom...First time Rudy.
Big Bro...Some decent works underneath.
Papa Tom.

NINTH RACE $100K NYSS
My Jopia...Improved on turf.
I Bet Toni Knows...Won a somewhat similar stake last time.
Why Take a Chance...Could be better on dirt - but seems on the improve.
Read the Research.

TENTH RACE
Rally Point...Best Beyers were in two turf events.
Ambit...Improving numbers.
My Luca...Should fit with these.
Rover.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
