Yesterday

1-11. Struggled all afternoon - and just when an oh-fer seemed imminent, we picked up a winner in the 10th [$13.40]. Had a reverse exacta in the 4th [$16.00/$2] with our third pick completing the tri [$42.40]. Otherwise perhaps the slowest day of the meet with the picks overall.

11,285 enjoyed a pleasant afternoon. Some sun and comfortable temps.

Today

Free grandstand admission for active duty armed forces and veterans (military ID required).

NYRA will invite the public to participate in a community forum to review a menu of potential capital improvement projects for Saratoga Race Course. Saratoga Springs City Center, 6:30pm

FIRST RACE
Dugan...Back to jumps off of a couple nice falt races for Sheppard.
Opera Heroine...Two solid wins at the meet.
Well Fashioned entry...Well Fashioned was just behind Opera Heroine last time and has gone well in limited steeple starts.
Here Comes Art.

SECOND RACE
Piquant...Sheppard/Augustin runner could be set-up well off of the two sprints at PID.
Self Control...Interesting turf-to-dirt and cutback moves.
Piscesbymoonlight...Showed speed last time and just caught - adds blinkers today off of a layoff.
Troilus.

THIRD RACE - Ann Clare $75K
Victory Island...Big debut win - but must validate on a fast track.
Flying Z entry...Both halves are coming off of solid wins.
Why Take a Chance...Beat claimers in debut - but two from that race have come back to win (Harbor Mist 8/21 MSW, For Her Eyes Only 8/29 mdn clm).

FOURTH RACE
Humadea...Looks capable of moving right through the first condition.
Star Torina...Also seems to have enough talent to conquer winners.
Sex Appeal...Will be rolling late.
Loure.
On dirt: Same plus, Authenticity, R Gypsy Gold, Rose's Turn, Tiz the Argument.

FIFTH RACE
Jack's Work...Takes a drop off the claim - but get Castellano and seems the one to beat if all the wheels are on.
Strictly Society...AE list. Will appreciate the return to grass.
Hot Pursuit...Finding some class relief.
City Strut.
He's a Scrooge.
On dirt: Controversial, Skinny Peter, Molly's Ship, He's a Scrooge, Token Sacrifice, D'Bulldog.

SIXTH RACE
I Got you...By a win-early sire. Worked 10.3 before May sale. Bought for $50K - debuts for $50K.
Scherer entry...Gattino preferred. Sire is win-early and dam has a debut winner.
Lindyhop...Also has some win-early breeding.
Purses Galore.
Heather's Feather.

SEVENTH RACE
Unaccountable...Just missed in virtually the same race on 8/13.
Grand Cash...Seems in good form.
Capital Market...Could be interesting if sent like the last time.
Lethal Combination.
On dirt: Sun Dance Moon, Hillswick, Break Up the Game, Xodo, Capital Market, Law Enforcement.

EIGHTH RACE - Island Whirl $75K
Dark Thunder...On a roll.
Bank Merger...Will find this group easier than the G1 company last time.
Rule by Night...Tossed in a clunker last time - but that was a very fast race.
Litigation Risk.

NINTH RACE - With Anticipation G2 $150K
Captain Webb...Could be any kind. Flattered when second-place finisher came back to win.
Optimizer...DW Lukas runner can validate upset win with a good run here.
Splendiferous...Like the top pair this one could be any kind based on the debut win.
Sportswriter.
On dirt: Same plus Clip the Coupons.

TENTH RACE
Last Empire...Finding some class relief for Sheppard/Augustin.
Ocean Seven...Also eligible to go well racing for a tag.
Get a Grip...Slight drop off a decent try here on 8/4.
Cosmic King.
East Indies.
Toccet's Image.
On dirt: Last Empire, Out of the Ghetto, Grounded Love, Cardsontablefaceup, Ahgogo.

ELEVENTH RACE
Sweet Cat...Eligible to improve with one under her belt and moving to turf.
Composition...Trouble in debut but worked in 10.2 before sale and is bred to win sooner rather than later.
Inny Minnie...Trainer's runners often do well in second start.
Dorothy's Spirit.
On dirt: Same plus Dynamic Star, Aubby K, Thisizparta.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
