3-10. Winners in the 1st [$6.90], 9th [$7.50] and 10th [$10.60]. Cold exacta in the 9th [$27.20/$2]. Top two in reverse order for the exacta in the 3rd [$15.80/$2].
Lots of elbow room as a somewhat sparse Saturday crowd of 22,091 attended. The number was probably affected by the heat and humidity - which seemed to be up a notch from Friday. Some folks probably opened the backdoor - felt the sauna-like heat and decided there are still 38 more days.
Later on however the neighboring post-track watering holes hosted good crowds. And the NBC team of Tom Hammond, Mike Battaglia and Kenny Rice were seen enjoying themselves in the backyard at Siro's.
The warm night brought out a big crowd for Day Two if the Hat's Off Music Festival downtown.
20th Annual Saratoga Hat Contest. Registration begins at noon.
Glory in Motion...Could this one have come back as an improved 4YO?
Victoryat Last...Needs to rebound from last effort.
Sarah's Pleasure...Might be the one to catch.
The Prize Fighter...Experience counts and this field doesn't really offer much in the way of firsters that are jumping off of the page at us.
Dehere of the Cat...Might have some first-out punch.
Readthebyline...Another with a little bit of breeding.
Tug of War.
D'oro Dancer...Linda Rice at Saratoga in a turf sprint. 'Nuff said.
Associate...A Rice exacta?
Wee Freudian...Improving Beyers and back on turf.
Happy Bull/My Golden Opinion...Both halves seem in good form and good fits at this level.
Fordangshore...Lightly-raced and showing talent.
Overrated Toad...Speightstown on top attracts our attention. Plus it's a firster from Repole/Pletcher. BUT - making his career debut as a 3YO in late July raises questions.
Lindell AC...Drops. Adds blinkers. Has speed.
Lemon Ghost...Shopping for a winning level.
Katskill Bay...Slight nod in a competitive race.
Mr Magenta...In good form now.
The Zipster...Wins the last two times at this level.
WW Lady's Man.
Chorus Music...Interesting. Could be repeat winner of Irish Linnet just three months apart.
Gitchee Goomie...Should be rolling late.
Paraiba...Hasn't won since April 2010 but up close last three.
Storm Palm...A just-miss in the career debut. Could be tough if she returns with added maturity.
Virtuously...Turf debut was best yet.
Brilliant Future...Returns to grass.
NINTH RACE - Sanford G2 $150K
Overdriven...Repole/Pletcher juvie impressed in debut.
Maan...Lived up to some precocious breeding with first-out win.
Power World...Second in a Churchill stakes last time.
Jack's in the Deck.
Frothy Market...Serious class-relief.
Winery...Just missed when last in for a tag.
Hoopskirt...Will contend if in from AE list.
She Drives Me Wild.
