by Seth Merrow

Turf selections/wagers are turf only

Best Bets

Belmont: Race 9... WP, Cheetah.
Belmont: Race 9... exacta box, Cheetah/La Luna de Miel.
Monmouth: Race 7... WP, Inaword.
Monmouth: Race 8... exacta box, Arrakis/Tune Me In/Exclusive Strike.
Monmouth: Race 12... exacta box, Themanintheglass/Get a Grip/Rio Bonita add African Gold if in from AE list.
Churchill: Race 5... WP, Princess Margaret.
Churchill: Race 5... exacta box, Champagne Run/Letter to Henny/Princess Margaret.

Belmont: Sheepshead Bay G2 $150K

Cheetah..Might prove the most interesting of the three-pronged Clement attack. Euro-invader had a decent US debut and could move forward with return to turf.
La Luna de Miel...Lightly-raced 4YO is probably the one to beat.
Hibaayeb.

Wager: $5 exacta box top two.

Monmouth: Lamplighter $70K

Crimson China...Should find this easier than the G1 Blue Grass.
Praetereo...Maiden-breaker three back was his best yet - followed by being over-matched in the G1 Blue Grass and then getting stuck on a sloppy track. Improvement expected on turf.
Beachcombing.

Wager: WP on Crimson China.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top three.
...$1 tri box top three.

Monmouth: Reilly Hcp $65K

Gunfighter...Likes this track and comes in with some recency as compared to some of the other contenders.
Joey P...9YO NJ fan fave has won half of his 26 starts at MTH.
Unwritten...Defending winner of this race has been off since Oct - but won same off of a similar layoff last year.
Hermosillo.

Wager: $5 WP on Gunfighter.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top four.
...$1 tri box top four.

Churchill: Louisville Hcp G3 $100K

Musketier...Solid so far this season and should be set off of the nice G2 win at KEE.
Keertana...Lady facing the boys -- and talented enough to contend.
Simmard...Fourth behind the top pick last time but might be rounding into form.
Guys Reward.

Wager: $5 WP on Musketier.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top four.
...$1 tri box top four.

Parx: My Juliet $250K

Sweet Goodbye...Might have just 'freaked' over the Charles Town surface - but those last two were impressive.
Tar Heel Mom...Graded-stakes winner might have a little bit more class than the top pick.
Lady Alexander...Returns to banr of trainer that seems to get the best out of her.
Brilliant Sunshine.

Wager: $5 WP on Sweet Goodbye.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top four.
...$1 tri box top four.

Arlington Matron G3 $100K

It's Tea Time...Beyers are improving and last could have set him up for this.
Satans Quick Chick...Better than latest.
Upperline...Has run very well on this track in the past.
La Gran Balladora.

Wager: $5 WP on It's Tea Time.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top four.
...$1 tri box top four.

Arlington: Arlington Classic $100K

Willcox Inn...Will find this bunch easier than G1 Blue Grass.
Extensive...Has yet to miss the board and ran a lifetime best Beyer last time.
Suntracer...Has a nice closing kick.
Swagger Jack.
Crimson Knight.

Wager: $5 WP on Willcox Inn.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top four, sub next if scratch.
...$1 tri box top four, sub next if scratch.

Hollywood: American Hcp G2 $150K

Liberian Freighter...Top two selections have plenty of speed and could possibly knock each other into submission - but we'll guess instead that they'll hang on at the flat mile to battle it out for the win.
Sidney's Candy... The other speedball.
The Usual QT...The one to pick up the pieces if the top two do falter.
Goldwaki.

Wager: $5 WP on Liberian Freighter.
...$2 exacta box top two.
...$1 exacta box top four.
...$1 tri box top four.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
