Yesterday

1-9. Winner in the 7th [$3.60]. Also, in the 4th a C-A exacta [$38.80/$2]. Otherwise a pretty anemic performance for the selections.

A solid crowd of 22,277 attended and were treated to yet another terrific day weather-wise. Sunny and warm.

Today

$500K guaranteed P4 every Saturday.

FIRST RACE
Carson Hall...On the numbers he looks like the one to beat - but hasn't won this year, he's no lock.
Z Fortune...Another one of these puzzlers that have popped up frequently over the past few days - a horse with plenty of back-class coming back off of a long payoff. Hmmm. Could be tough if ready to run. It's all about that "if".
Spanish Art...Should be heard from late.
Compliance Officer.
Parc des Princes.

SECOND RACE
Exley...Has some precocious breeding. Didn't show a whole lot in the debut but now moves in against state-breds.
D'Sauvage...Likely fave off of the nice improved performance last time - but he's certainly vulnerable.
Cooks Forest...Eligible to improve in his second career start.
Super Angelo.

THIRD RACE
Bulldogger...Baffert runner was a monster here in his debut last summer - then faltered after showing speed in the comeback. Cuts back to 6F and returns to a track he favors.
Not Macho Any More...Another that showed some 2YO promise last year. 7/31 work indicates readiness.
Footcandles...Three-time winner is capable on best effort.
Ziegfield.

FOURTH RACE
Toy Indian...Showed some life for a tag last time. Drops further today.
Defarge...The drop raises some red flags - but she'll contend if all the wheels are on.
Maid to Win...Won in her only other claiming effort.
Sudden Silver.

FIFTH RACE
No Rhyme or Reason...Has been running well vs better on grass. At this level/condition the drop doesn't seem that suspicious. Should go well.
Every Little Thing...Won a similar event last time.
Bobbi O...Has some early speed.
Capitalism At Risk.

SIXTH RACE
More THan Real...Bred for turf and winning early.
Dynamic Holiday...Should have gotten some education last time and could go well today.
Speedy's Gal...Win-early breeding.
Street Chimes.
War Clan.

SEVENTH RACE
Chairman Now...Iffy selection - can't be too confident of a 6-time loser in a field with some firsters and more lightly-raced runners that could jump up. But this guy is making his third start of the season and might be ready to break through.
Baatesh...Beyers are improving with each start and might appreciate the return to grass.
Ritual...Showed nice improvement in the return and will contend with a repeat.
Prospective Union.

EIGHTH RACE
Brock... Well-bred $2.3 mil purchase from the Curlin/Rachel folks. Worked in 10.3 before that sale.
Heisman...Sib to G1 winner Any Given Saturday [a debut winner] and graded stakes winner Bohemian Lady [a debut winner]. Very dangerous.
Stay Thirsty...Just missed as the chalk in his debut.
Orsonian.

NINTH RACE
Onzain...Three nice improving efforts this season including the win last time. Should be primed to go well again.
Writingonthewall...The one to catch - but it looks like there might be some other speed to contend with. Dangerous if he can slip away however.
Silenced...Third in a similar event last time but got caught pressing a fast pace. Should have a better set-up today.
JL Berstein.

TENTH RACE- Sword Dancer G1 $500K
Romp...Popped this one on top in a roll of the dice. We had Expansion on top as a tepid choice -- but heck, why not take a chance on Sheppard at 20-1 [ML]?
Expansion...He's been consistent this year - but hasn't finished better than third. Tepid vote.
Telling...Horse-for-course? Won this race last year at big odds in a lifetime best performance.
Bearpath.

ELEVENTH RACE
Kuggerand...Back in against NY-breds after a much improved Beyer performance vs open company to start the season.
Bishop of Nola...Claimed out of a winning effort here on 7/30. Should fit with these.
Dos Hombres... AE list. Hmm, looks capable on best - but has faltered when place at this level in the past.
Mr Vantastic.
Judge Well.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
