Don't forget to check out the Challenge page where we started the month with a mythical $1000 bankroll and attempt to increase that amount as the Saratoga season continues.

Yesterday

2-9. Winners in the 2nd [$3.20] and 4th [$6.40]. Also, in the 3rd the top two reversed for the exacta [$16.40/$2]. Top pick over our third selection for the exacta in the 4th [$25.60]. It was a C-B-A-D finish in the 5th for the exacta [$75.50], tri [$174.00] and super [$429.00]. And our top two flip-flopped for the exacta in the nightcap [$12.80].

22,383 enjoyed a warm and sunny Friday afternoon at the races. And the party continued -- with all of the post-race watering holes jammed as the sun set -- and downtown Saratoga attracted a crowd as well, many of those checking out the annual extravaganza that is the Whitney Gala.

Today

$500K guaranteed late P4 every Saturday.

FIRST RACE
Pistols at Dawn...Hard to go past the debut win - along with those last two works.
Monsignor...Looks like the light-bulb turned on last time. Goes first out for Pletcher.
Brother Bird...Hard to fault the record so far. Always in the hunt.
Mad for Smarty.

SECOND RACE
High Prize...Seems to have gotten the wake-up call with the move to grass. Picks up Dominguez.
Evenforever...Flopped a little in his first try over this turf - but had some trouble. A contender with a rebound to prior form.
Naughty You...AE list. Has show some flashes.
Military Star.
Pagan Ruler.

THIRD RACE
Payout...Trainer's red-hot and this one should take to the turf.
Hear the Footsteps...Linda Rice in a turf sprint.
Dougie...Seems to be on the improve and making third start of 2010.
Western Connection.
Dirt Track Demon.

FOURTH RACE
Bank Heist...We'll take a little bit of a shot in a contentious MSW event. This is a half to Midnight Lute and might benefit from the first-out education. Nice work on 7/26. It will be interesting to see if we really get that 10-1 ML price with Pletcher/Velazquez team in his corner.
Enclosure...Could be interesting with the blinkers added.
Jaguar Paw...Nice debut. Eligible to improve.
Bellhouse.

FIFTH RACE
Counterspy...Off awhile but trainer can have them ready and looks to be spotted well.
Where Is'em...Getting some class relief.
Tocco d'Oro...High early speed.
Macho Joe.
Jockey Ridge.

SIXTH RACE
Whistlin' Dixie...This one gets a slight nod in another contentious MSW event. By Dixie Union a sire we like very much with firsters.
Justin Phillip...Win-early trainer for this expensive yearling purchase.
Tiz Blessed... Some more win-early breeding and a trainer doing well with these types recently.
Distorted Appeal.

SEVENTH RACE
Leipzig...It's Sheppard/Augustin, a team that always attracts our attention at this meet.
Cherokee Speed...Should fit well here and Johnny V riding great at the meet.
Living Large...In good form now.
Prince Will I Am.

EIGHTH RACE - Hattie Moseley $70K
Ailalea...Sometimes these types -- having faced the best of dirt -- have an edge over the confirmed turfers.
Snow Top Mountain...Back on the grass.
Barracks Road...Putting together a solid campaign in 2010.
Hyperlink.

NINTH RACE - Test G1 $250K
Ash Zee... We've been onboard this Asmussen trainee through the past two - and she could be a good one ready for this assignment.
Pica Slew...Certainly it's hard to ignore that impressive Summit of Speed win last time.
Buckleupbuttercup...Should be heard from in the lane.
Belle of the Hall.

TENTH RACE - Whitney G1 $750K
Quality Road...Pro-tem leader of the older division gets back to two turns -- the scenario that lead to a 121 Beyer two back.
Blame...He's the real-deal and his coming out party was in the Curlin here last year.
Haynesfield...NY-bred sports and eye-popping career record - topped by the G2 Suburban Hcp win last time.
Musket Man.

ELEVENTH RACE
Talk Therapy...Trainer Rice finally gets this one on the surface they hoped for. His two dirt starts have been solid - in fact this maiden crossed the finish line first last time!
Whateverittakes...He's often in the hunt.
Solutionfinders...AE list. Has some closing punch.
Roaring Conquest.
City Train.
Syzgy.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
