The last few weeks of racing seem to have been held at a fevered pitch -- wrapped up by an always jammed-packed Labor Day Weekend. So it's really no surprise that the action takes something of a break. A few stakes to jump into today across the country -- the activity should return to a more normal state as we move into the fall season in the next week or two.

Belmont: Race 8, Gozzip Girl.
Belmont: Race 8, exacta key Gozzip Girl over Shared Account/Pull Dancer.

Belmont: Ruffian Hcp G1 $300K

Seventh Street...Part of that springtime slump Godolphin endured -- but they rebounded impressively at Saratoga. Solid win in the G1 Go For Wand indicates she's back in top form.
Swift Temper...Second -- but not close to the ultra-impressive Icon Project -- in the G1 Go For Wand. She's the one to beat on her best.
Luna Vega.

Wager: $10 quinella top two.
...$2 quinella Seventh Street/Luna Vega.

Belmont: Garden City Hcp G1 $300K

Gozzip Girl...A little surprised that she didn't show up in some of the available stakes after winning the G1 American Oaks in early July - but perhaps the cross-country trip and a planned fall campaign had them looking to this spot. Hard to fault her turf stakes record.
Shared Account...On the improve since switching to grass.
Maram...Undefeated winner of 2008 BC Juvie Filly Turf. Has only started once this year -- she won that day, but this bunch is tougher.
Pull Dancer.

Presque Isle: Presque Isle Master G3 $400K

Informed Decision...Couldn't keep up with Indian Blessing -- and then both were passed by Music Note -- in Saratoga's G1 Ballerina on 8/29. Right back -- and might find this bunch just a tad easier, though not much. A pretty solid field of twelve -- but this one has worked well on this surface this summer.
Game Face...Pletcher trainee comes into this off of two nice summertime sprint-stake wins. Question-mark is the surface.
Flashing...Beyers are a little light for this 3YO, but suspect she might be ready to step it up.

Fairplex: Johnston $50K

Gambler's Justice...Looks to have a class and pace edge on these.
Spinning Yarns...Has shown some early speed -- which will be handy here.
Tidal Dance...Will find this bunch easier than latest.
