Yesterday

4-11. Nothing spectacular but there were a few highlights. Reverse exacta in the 1st [$29.60/$2] and a generous cold exacta in the 4th [$44.00]. And with the first or second selection winning eight of the eleven races, it's not inconceivable that someone playing around modestly could have had the early double and the late P3 and P4.

Wow -- only 19,973 on an afternoon that featured a couple of very nice stakes and absolutely perfect track weather -- sunny and comfortable temps in the 70s. For some folks summer wraps up in August and Labor Day weekend just isn't track season to them. They missed a great day at Saratoga.

After the races the annual Final Stretch music festival drew and bang-up crowd downtown. Plenty of people strolling along Broadway to catch the free musical acts.

Today

The 'Final Stretch Music Fest' continues tonight downtown after the races. Musical acts will be performing -- free of charge -- up and down Broadway starting at 7pm.

FIRST RACE
Stag Dancer...You can go any number of different ways in here -- but we'll land on this one. Good first-off the claim trainer returns this gal to sprinting and note the nice turf sprint win for her right at this level back in May.
Ahvee's Destiny...Trainer Rice on fire over the past few days and her specialty seems to be these turf sprints. Dangerous.
Brown Eyed Belle...Could be the one to catch and early speed has been a key to these short grass races.
Zippy Missy.

SECOND RACE
Rollers...The breeding is a little bit precocious. Drew $500K at a 2YO sale after working in 10.1. Working well for this.
Good Law...Solid string of a.m. drills for good first-out trainer.
Wishful Tomcat...Eligible to improve with one under her belt.
Missinglisalewis.

THIRD RACE
Queen Joanne...Came back as a much improved 3YO.
Cat Charmer...Another that seems to have benefitted form the last layoff.
Stilled...Just missed moving through this condition last time.
Queens Full.

FOURTH RACE
Estimator...Often times these state-breds seem to wake-up with the move into open conditional clm'rs.
Dade County...Showed some promise early on. A couple of duds at the end of last season and on the bench since. Could wake-up on the drop.
Minister's Appeal...Another visiting the claiming ranks for the first time and has some early foot which might prove too much for these.
Wild Quake.

FIFTH RACE
Silver Ransom...This gal probably has to step it up a bit and we've gotten burned by Sheppard/Augustin runners at this meet -- but we're still intrigued and waiting for the annual Sheppard Special. What's interesting here is those last two works -- spaced only four days apart, with the last being on Friday!
Inda...With the breeding it's hard to believe she's still al maiden -- and her two 2007 starts seems to indicate she's an improved 4YO.
Final Refrain...Improving numbers with each start this season.
Who Fu.

SIXTH RACE
Lucky Copy...Ran greenly in debut -- won't be surprised to see a much improved effort today.
Mott entry...With Desormeaux named on both only one will go -- Moon de French is working well, and note that although this one goes for Mott, she was training in SoCal earlier this summer. Sunday Holiday ran well in first outing despite some traffic.
Hopehopehope...Troubled trip behind a runaway winner in debut.
Esther Got Even.

SEVENTH RACE
French Transition...AE lister. They've been ambitious with this NY-bred -- but look at the only dirt race he's had vs state-breds in alw company.
Drizzly,,,Will be rolling late.
Galluscio entry...Stud Muffin has won tow of last four and goes turf-to-dirt. Lethimthinkhesboss first-off the claim.
Children's Annex.
Optimistic Steve.

EIGHTH RACE - Irish Actress
Tishmeister...Won a rich stake here on 8/9. Has plenty of early speed.
Jesse's Justice...Rock steady -- six exacta finishes in seven lifetime starts.
Cute Cognac...AE lister. Solid in all three starts.
Don't Mind Me.
Michele the Great.

NINTH RACE - Saranac G3
Distorted Reality...Won 3-of-6 since switching to turf and was a near-miss behind Nobiz Like Shobiz here on 8/6 and that one came back to win a $500K G3 at Delaware yesterday.
Ambassador...Another that has taken to the grass. Just behind the top pick in latest.
Blazing Dynamo...8/20 work seems to indicate he's on his toes.
La Neige.
Mysterious Peintre.

TENTH RACE - Spinaway G1
More Happy...They seemed to be gaining on her in the 6.5F Adirondack -- but it seems that more often than not these are the kind people jump off when adding that half furlong, and then they just go out and do it again. We'll stick.
Irish Smoke...Impressive debut win. Runnerup followed with a win next out.
A to the Croft...Just missed catching the top pick last time.
Salty Wave.

ELEVENTH RACE
Influential...Why not take the new shooter in an event loaded with multiple-time losers?
Knownowthisistrue...Showed nice improvement in 3YO debut.
Crusader's Code...Will be running late and Beyers say she's the one to beat -- but they have already beaten her thirteen times.
Parachute Jump.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halve are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
