Yesterday

3-10. We got our winners on top - but didn't knock 'em dead in that category, however, like many, many days this meet the handicapping was solid and some value was available playing around with the selections. Clearly the highlight was the winner-on-top in the 2nd [39.60, 15.40, 9.60]. Our third and fourth picks followed her home for the exacta [$287.50/$2] and tri [1075.00]. Ours mixed up for a few other gimmicks on the card and our top three boxed for the tri in the nightcap [$91.00].

21,992 enjoyed a Travers-eve card. Weather-wise it was triple H's -- hazy, hot and humid.

Today

First post is 12:45pm. TV coverage on ESPN starts at 4pm ET.

FIRST RACE
Loconia...A nice stalking win over the course on 8/2. Worked well since.
Tiverton...Just behind the top pick last time and likes this track.
Dancing Forever...Should hear from this one in the lane.
Gaelic Storm.
On dirt: Loconia, Loconia, Dancing Forever, Menacing, Mint Slewlep, Santa's Gold, True to Tradition.

SECOND RACE
He's Solid Gold... Well-bred. Working well. Zito's firsters have been very live the past couple of Spa seasons.
Eagle Strike...Also well-bred and working well.
Elusive Schemes...Expect improvement today.
Grand Minstrel.

THIRD RACE
Virginia Minstrel...Three-time bridesmaid -- in three starts -- this year. But looks to be on the improve.
Peace Mon...Just missed picking up diploma last time -- finishing ahead of the top pick.
Rocket Legs...All races have been decent and he's eligible to put it all together at any time.
Konqueror.
Borobudur.
On dirt: Unrestricted, Inquisitive, Do I Havea Witness, Jump It, Virginia Minstrel.

FOURTH RACE
Noah A...Very competitive at this level. Took the lead here and got nipped late on 7/25. Dangerous today.
Westmoreland...Won that 7/25 race. Clearly fits with these and would be no surprise winning right back.
Forget the Judge...Likes this track and sports a solid work in prep for this.
Taming the Tiger.
Grand.
Military Major.
On dirt: Military Major, Chameleon, Bailero, Seeking the Money, Taming the Tiger.

FIFTH RACE
La Presse...Group-level performer in Europe for Godolphin might boos these in US debut.
Sophie's Salad...From celebrity chef Bobby Flay and trainer Todd Pletcher. Could have turned the corner last time.
Enchantal...Tossed in a clunker last time but we think she's better than that.
Smartgabrielle.
On dirt: Motor City Mama, Smartgabrielle, Upscale Storm, Life Is a Cabernet, Genuine Devotion.

SIXTH RACE
Now a Victor...Trainer has eye-popping stats with firsters. Works like pretty good.
Salzburg...Would expect this guy to move forward with one under his belt.
Interest Rate...Another that could improve having had some education under his belt.
Feastorfamine/The Duke of Stanco.

SEVENTH RACE - Baruch Hcp G2
Linda's Lad...A Group winner in the UK. These Euro shippers often tend to be just better than ours.
Shakis...Didn't seem to get untracked last time -- but first two US starts were very good.
Cosmonaut...Solid in 2007.
Silver Whistle.

EIGHTH RACE - Kings Bishop G1
First Defence...Lightly-raced 3YO from Frankel/Juddmonte is regally-bred and could be ready to toss in a big one.
Hard Spun...Been knocking heads with the best in the 3YO division and would be no surprise in here.
Teuflesberg...2-2 at the trip.
Most Distinguished.

NINTH RACE - Travers G1
Street Sense...G1 Ky Derby winner looked good prepping for this in the G2 Jim Dandy. Looks well prepped to add this trophy to his collection.
Sightseeing...Think the connections have had this race on their radar for quite awhile. Should be rolling late.
Grasshopper...Huge win at this meet -- but takes a big class move today.
CP West.

TENTH RACE - Victory Ride G3
Russian Gypsy...Has looked good in three-race career and should fit here.
La Traviata...Another that gets tested after putting in a limited number of starts -- but looking good in them.
Allude...This horse looks to be on the improve and could prove interesting in here.
Graeme Six.

ELEVENTH RACE
Kong the King...Showed some promise as a 2YO and could be primed for a big try in second start of 2007.
Garifine...$1.8 mil 2YO purchase faded after showing early foot last time but wouldn't be surprised to see him last longer today.
Incriminate...$1.5 mil yearling is another that might step it up in his second start of the season.
Blackfoot Trail.

TWELVTH RACE
Alright Now...Sometimes these lightly-raced youngsters can showed marked improvement off of a layoff. We'll hope for that here. We'll also hope he can get a decent trip from the 13-post.
Zipperoo...Just missed in a similar race last time. The one to beat.
Makin Me Famous...Been competitive all year.
Any Which Ways.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halve are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
