Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

Four winners on top in eleven races (Laurel, $2.80; Gulfstream, $5.00; Santa Anita, $4.60, 4.60). Not much value there and that was the theme of the day as we managed to pick up a couple boxed tri's, but again, with little value...

WAGERED: $440.00

Wild Jam... Likes this track. Comes out of a stakes win here. Put a couple back-to-back here last winter and fired a triple digit Beyer in the follow-up.
Super Fuse...Closed well to run an OK fourth in G3 Gravesend despite some trouble.
Spooky Mulder...8YO has been a little hard to gauge since last fall but is capable on best effort.
Banjo Picker.

...$1 tri box top four.
Collected $17.60 on the tri box ($45.20/$2).

Promenade Girl...Took a little break through most of September and October and has been running well in three starts since coming back. Last was best yet -- but could have been aided by sealed surface. Still, her best gets the job done here.
Princess Pelona...Seems to be rounding into top form.
Ms Louisa Quatorse...Didn't seem to care for inner in NY last time but blasted a big win this track and trip in race just prior.
Ask Queenie.

Gulfstream: Sunshine Millions Sprint $300K

Bordanaro 3-2
Tacirring 19-1
Bushwacker 37-1

Wager: $5 WP on Bordanaro.

...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 1-4-5-9.

Bordanaro...Made belated debut last Feb and progressed nicely. Went OK in stakes debut at Del Mar then took a short break. Been razor sharp in two starts since return.
Nightmare Affair...Ran OK to be fourth in G3 last time off of a layoff. Should be rolling late and offer some value here.
Areyoutalkintome...Was up on the pace through some very fast fractions last time going longer. Held well for third and should appreciate the cutback today.
Thor's Echo.

Joint Effort 4-1
A Sea Trippi 62-1
Lake Alice 91-1

Wager: $5 WP on Peach Flambe.

Ran 1-4-7-10.

Bettarun First...Went 3-3 to start career in Florida then sold and shipped to SoCal. Faded at 7F last time but should rebound with move back to six panels.
Joint Effort...Has already faced some of the better members of her class. Lifetime best last time and could be tough if she shows improvement off the layoff.
Swap Fliparoo.

Gulfstream: SM Distaff $500K

House of Fortune 2-1
Sweet Lips 5-2
Dream of Summer 6-5

Wager: $5 WP on Dream of Summer.

Collected $13.40 on the ex box ($26.80/$2).

Collected $23.10 on the tri box ($46.20/$2).

Dream of Summer...Has the ability to lead or stalk. A couple of good works prepping for this including a 7F work two weeks ago.
House of Fortune...Solid as a 2YO and 3YO but was a little dull early in her 4YO season. Summertime turf tries seem to have re-awakened her.
Secret Corsage...Hollendorfer trainee makes third start off layoff and it's the first time in awhile that she's been able to string a few together.
Sweet Lips.

Gulfstream: SM Turf $500K

Miesque's Approval 48-1
Silver Tree 4-5
Icy Atlantic 13-1

Ran 2-3-4-7.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-3-4-7.

Silver Tree...Was 0-6 in 2005 before taking the G3 Tropical Turf last time -- but ran second behind the likes of Artie Schiller and Leroidesanimaux. Clearly has an edge on these in Beyer-fig department.
Stormy Roman...There should be plenty of early pace in here and this one has shown a closing kick in the past.
Icy Atlantic...Was a solid member of that superb 3YO class of turfers in 2004. Disappointed somewhat last year but might wake up with Velazquez back on board.
We All Love Aleyna.

Ran 1-3-5-8.

Da Stoops...On the improve and ran best yet to take Cal-bred stake last time. Been facing some of the best of his class.
In Summation...Four-time stake winner merits respect -- but faded last time, in new barn, shipped to SoCal, so there are some question marks.

Plagiarist.

Scratched.

Collected $8.20 on the ex box ($16.40/$2).

Ran 1-2-6.

Leave Me Alone...Has been facing G1 company in three of last four starts -- including a win in the Test at Saratoga. Might appreciate the move in against restricted foes.
Western Hemisphere...Came back from a year layoff to run three improving races. Might rate as top pick except for outside post position.
Hot Storm...Brings in a 4-race streak and won 6F Sunshine Millions Oaks on this track last year -- at 21-1.

Collected $13.00 on the ex box ($26.00/$2).
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 1-2-8.

Moscow Burning...Close-up fifth in this race last year. Second in 2004. Only four starts in 2005 and now makes third start off a layoff. Cuts back from 12F and might take them all the way.
Valentine DancerHas won this race the past two years and might challenge the top pick early. Last couple were duds but neither were her cup of tea (a turf sprint and a dirt race). Expect better today.
Beneficial Bartok...Hit top form last fall. Should be rolling late.
Dancing General.

Whos Crying Now 11-1

Ran 9-11.
...$1 exacta box top four.
Ran 2-5-9-11.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-5-9-11.

Desert Boom...We'll go off the beaten path and look for an upset in a contentious race. Plenty of speed in here and this guy might be able to stalk close and get the first jump in the lane.
Proud Tower Too...Should be part of the early pace and might be tough stretching out off of two sprint stakes wins.
Whos Crying Now...If the front runners collapse this one might pick up the pieces.
Supervisor.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed in event of a scratch.
Scratches listed in our results reflect only horses that were part of our selections, not necessarily all the horses that were scratched. Check official results for complete information.
