Picks and plays for some of the day's major stakes

Kind of a dull afternoon with some short fields making the picks and plays less than intriguing -- and we lost the nice Delaware turfer altogether when it was moved to the main track.

We managed two winners in the five remaining races (8.60, 5.20), for a decent ROI in the win category. Not much luck with the gimmicks -- but we were still in the hunt as our finale of the day came up at Hollywood. Have to express some disappointment that Gary Stevens on G1 winner Alphabet Kisses let recent NW1 winner Andujar dictate the pace. That's one that's just kind of hard to see until it plays out -- you never know what strategy the jocks will employ. In this case it worked decidedly against us and Andujar took advantage of the scenario to shut us out in the nightcap.

WAGERED: $136.00
COLLECTED: $83.50

Turf wagers are turf only

Best Bets
Wow. Three grass races. Three different tracks. All canceled from our scorecard when all three were moved to the main track.

Belmont, Race 9, Rove... Moved to main track. No play.
Monmouth, Race 7, Aesculus... Moved to main track. No play.
Delaware, Race 8, Omeya/Spring Season... Moved to main track. No play.

Belmont: Say Florida Sandy $60K

Bold Decision 13-1
Freddy the Cap 5-2
Be Wild Again 1-1

Pain and Glory scratched.

Wager: $5 WP on Freddy the Cap.
Collected $12.50 on the WP (xxx, 5.00).
...$2 exacta box on top two.
Ran 2-3.
...$2 tri key Freddy the Cap over next three.
Ran 2/3-4.
...$1 tri key Be Wild Again over other three.
Ran 3/2-4.

Freddy the Cap...We're counting on the idea that this one came back improved after the layoff. Looks like Be Wild Again and Sarah's Prospect should duel up front and if this guy can repeat the closing kick from his win at Delaware he should be tough.
Be Wild Again...Always possible one of the speed's can sneak away and steal it and this look like the most likely.
Sarah's Prospect...More speed.
Pain and Glory.

Belmont: Acorn G1 $250K

Round Pond 2-1
Smuggler 6-1
In the Gold 7-2

Wager: $5 WP on Smuggler.
Collected $16.00 on the WP (xxx, 6.40).
...$2 exacta box on top two.
Ran 2-3.
...$2 tri key Smuggler over next three.
Ran 2/3-4-6.

Smuggler...Regally-bred filly is another that seems to have perhaps returned from layoff improved -- as many 3YOs can. Won 2005 debut last time this track and trip and trainer tends to be conservative so we like the confidence of jumping up to G1 company.
In the Gold...Experience counts and this Zito trainee is already proven at the top level of this division.
Seek a Star...Might be tough to rundown on the front end.
Splendid Blended.

Monmouth: Revidere $60K

Bayou Breeze 3-1
Sense of Style 3-5
Smokestack 9-1

Wager: $5 WP on Bayou Breeze.
Collected $27.50 on the WP (8.60, 2.40).
...$5 exacta box on top two.
Ran 1-4.

Bayou Breeze...Could be getting the hang of it at the right time.
Devine Will...Another that seems to be getting good at this point.
Sense of Style.

Delaware: J Rooney Mem Hcp $100K

Racing Luck 3-2
Spring Season 3-1
Summer Rainbow 3-5

Off turf.
All of ours -- other than Spring Season -- scratched. Only three runners contested the race..

Off turf. No wagers.
Wager: $5 WP on Sheppard entry.
...$2 exacta box on top two.
...$1 exacta box top four.
...$1 tri box top four.

Sheppard entry...Omeya preferred. Third start of layoff and improved in first two. Spring Season might benefit from last.
Humoristic...Last seems to indicate some 3YO improvement -- but we'll know more today.
High Court...Toss latest. She fits here on best.
Vallera.

Churchill: Mint Julep Hcp G3 $100K

Delta Princess 8-5
Shaconage 2-1
Erhu 18-1

Wager: $5 WP on Delta Princess.
Collected $20.00 on the WP (5.20, 2.80).
...$2 exacta box on top two.
Ran 1-6.
...$2 tri key Delta Princess over next three.
Ran 1/2-5-6.
...$1 tri key Dynamic Cat over other three.
Ran 5/1-2-6.

Delta Princess...Will need to step it up a little bit off of first three this year but she started to heat up about this time last season.
Dynamic Cat...Euro-import rounding to top form now.
Shaconage...Came into this race last year in similar fashion and threw in a clunker.
Pretty Jane.

Hollywood: Milady BC Hcp G2 $200K

Andujar 7-1
Hollywood Story 3-2
Star Parade 3-1

Wager: $5 WP on Hollywood Story.
Collected $7.50 on the WP (xxx, 3.00).
...$2 exacta box on top two.
Ran 2-4.
...$1 tri box top four.
Ran 2-3-4-7.

Hollywood Story...Won a stake this track and trip last time despite trouble. Needs only repeat to take this.
Alphabet Kisses...Could be the lone speed in here which is always scary.
Star Parade...Tossed in a clunker last time but returns to SoCal and won this stake last year.
House of Fortune.
