Yesterday

5-10. Week five felt a lot like Week Two as we seemed to be swimming upstream most of the time -- but we finally broke through on Sunday. Five winners on top (3rd, $4.00; 5th, $6.70; 6th, $14.60; 9th, $6.00; 10th, $6.70). We had two cold exactas (5th, $13.00/$2; 6th, $127.00). Also the late double cold ($21.60) and the usual assortment of picks and other gimmicks.

On-track, a very sparse Sunday crowd of only 15,358 showed -- with perhaps many scared away by the weather which was threatening in the morning but turned out to be simply cloudy during the afternoon. It will be interesting to follow the attendance during the last week of the meet as Saratoga has a long streak of 10,000+ passing through the gates... The number goes back quite a few years now and with the light Travers weekend figures we'll be watching closely to see if trhe fans continue to turn out as the season dwindles down.

Today

FIRST RACE
So Swanky...Delaware shippers are always dangerous. Trainer having a good meet. Drops in for a tag. All adds up.
Ed Miracle...Seems to have come around since early summer and won nicely at Pimlico last time.
A to Z...Can't ignore anything from the 40% trainer.
Tampa's Big City.

SECOND RACE
Silver Timber...Likely to have gotten some good education form start #1 and the latest works indicates he'll take to the turf.
Impure Thoughts...Looks like they'll have him to catch -- and that might be tough.
Speaking Out...A couple of quick works give the idea he might be capable first-out.
Kick Up Your Heels.
King Glacken.

THIRD RACE
Saoirse Cat...Already has experience over an off track and might get first hjump on these and play catch-me-if-you-can.
Halo Humor...Impressive debut.
Swap Fliparoo...Took to this surfacei n latest.
Game for More.

FOURTH RACE
Wait a While...Working well for good win-early connctions.
Cintarosa...Also a good first-out trainer.
Real Expectations...Super-breeding.
Eagle sound.
Trick's Pic.

FIFTH RACE
Michaelistheone...Seems like experience counts in these turf sprints nad this guy is coming out of three straight. Good try three back at Gulfstream last time he was teamed with a journeyman jock.
Upscaled...Will be tough if ability transfers to turf.
June the Tiger...Brings in improving form and three-race win streak.
Silent Bid.
On dirt: Upscaled, June the Tiger, Smoke Warning, Terrific Challenge, Wing Man.

SIXTH RACE
Deed...Consistent and she seems to really be getting the hang of it.
Mountain Mambo...The one to beat coming out of a nice win here on 8/8.
On the Catwalk...Just caught late in similar event last time.
Speedy Deedy.
On dirt: Character Builder, Italian Saint, Speedy Deedy, Joyful Jackie.

SEVENTH RACE
Grand Survival...Nice debut win for this $1 mil 2YO purchase. Meets a tough bunch but looks capable of making this next step successfully.
Private Vow...Big move forward in his second start.
Trippi appeal...Should be winging early.
Honor Due.

EIGHTH RACE
Alinghi...Australian champ is shooting for a start in the Breeders' Cup. this is the first step and it's a tough spot but she was ultra-successful Down Under -- many times against the boys. She might prefer a shorter trip but we'll still use her on top and watch the race with anticipation.
Delta Princess...Fits well with this bunch.
Snowdrops...Usually in the mix.
Que Puntual.
On dirt: Capeside Lady, La Reina, Cloakof Vagueness, Ender's Sister, Path of Thunder, Aesculus.

NINTH RACE
Gemmie a Satellite...Improved since arriving in new barn.
Continental Reins...Has found a home on turf.
Ryan Is Flying...Nice improving form.
Mikethemoondog.
Key Event.
On dirt: Continental Reins, Ron Greschner, Key Event, Emotrin.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed in event of a scratch.
