We started the 2005 Saratoga thoroughbred race meet with a mythical bankroll of $1000. Each day we'll use this space to record our mythical best bets and calculate the accumulated wins and losses.

Yesterday...

Picked up a no-value double, but the "doh!" on the day was that late Pick Four. We singled the chalky winners in the last two races -- and went two and three deep (knocked down to two deep after scratch) in the first two. But if we had just gone a little deeper with our picks in those first two... Our fourth choice won the 6th at 8-1, and our move-up 3rd choice won the 7th at 7-1 (and remember, we were already three deep in that race -- but were knocked down to two after the scratch). So it wouldn't have taken too much to spread just a touch deeper in those first two -- while singling the last couple -- to grab the $485.00/$2 P4.
