Dark day. No racing.
Hristoforos...In kind of a dismal field of low percentage connections and horse that don't like to win this guy gets a tepid vote on current form which might be a tad better than the rest.
Gone to War...Second start of 2004 and wouldn't have to improve much off of seasonal debut to boss this bunch.
Lukelynn...Well, the trainer's percentage at the meet certainly stands out amongst these -- and there are worse angles to play in here.
Pletcher entry...Prime looks like the one. $675K yearling buy here last year is bred to be precocious. Made Man also capable of having some talent.
Swissle Stick...Battle-tested for Lukas/Lewises. Ran fourth in a stake last time.
Closing Argument...8/10 work says this one should be ready.
Cloakof Vagueness...Just missed in similar event last time and that experience should only help.
Shadow Cast...Looked primed to be a contender in the 3YO filly division earlier this year. Has slumped since Oaklawn but last might have indicated a wake-up is due.
Holiday Lady...Faded against top pair last time but improved nicely in second start over the track last summer.
Spring Stroll...We missed the Sheppard Special on Monday (Doh! Don't remind us!), but we won't let this one get away -- although it's hard to imagine the same value here. Improved nicely when switched to turf. Trainer usually has them ready to go long. C Velasquez riding well right now. Adds up.
Christmas Card...Showing nice improvement over last couple of tries.
Lonesome Too...Has lagged behind in first two tries -- adds blinkers today which should put him in the game earlier. Let's hope he isn't geared up too much. If not he should be rolling late.
Paiota Falls...Surprised this Mott filly is now making second dirt start after a smashing win on the turf -- but hey, the dirt tries have been OK too. Might be something special brewing here. Last was a tough one though so she'll have to be good to repeat off of that one.
Amanuensis...Might appreciate the return to the main track.
Family Business......Could rebound to good form with the stretchout to two-turns.
Buff Naked...Showed some real improvement last time Beyer-wise. Could this be a horse-for-course -- or was that a fluke? We'll vote for the former, but we'll know more after this race.
Win With Beck...Third start off layoff off of two improving races.
Fiddlers Pride...Could prove tough if takes to turf.
Midas Eyes...Lays over this bunch if even at 90%. Trainer is capable off the layoff.
Draw Fire...Has some good experience at the trip -- but is another coming in off the bench.
McKee's Gallery...Will be tough if able to get back to form shown in seasonal debut.
EIGHTH RACE -- Albany $150K
Work With Me...Seemed to show a real affinity for the track winning last. Capable of repeat if able to muster best effort.
West Virginia...Just missed in NY Stallion and would be no surprise today.
Chowder's First...Stepped up to run best race and win NY Stallion last time. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be a wise-guy and go against a possible repeat in a similar event -- but this guy hasn't convinced us yet...
Dont Knock America/Pay Attention.
Moorebella...Super win here in latest. Claimed that day and now moves up but is certainly capable of repeat on best effort.
Goldie's Cat...Beet two races have been at this mile trip.
Uma Norma...Second to top pick last time.
