Today's Best Bets4-9. Four winners on top (3rd, $4.90; 7th, $3.40; 8th, $3.10; 9th, $3.40).
Complete recap pending.
Rain throughout the night and continuing into the morning -- no turf for Saturday.
If you're a chili fan head out to the backyard from noon-4pm for the Chili Cook Off. Sample plenty of chili for only $5 (Proceeds benefit the Backstretch Employee Assistance Team) and vote for your favorite.
If you can't make it to the track you can catch the Hopeful and Alabama on ESPN, 5-6:30pm ET (keep your fingers cross that the Little League World Series doesn't go into extra innings!).
FIRST RACE
Off Turf.
Drivingthelane...Lightly raced and getting closer each try.
Castle Heights...His three grass starts were very good -- but dirt start prior was also very good.
AMs Spirit...Another with some good improving form.
Luke's Flash.
London.
SECOND RACE
Cookie Crumbs...Preferred half of Levine entry. Very consistent this year and won when last spotted at this level.
Joann Jr...Seems to be getting the hang of it.
Private Boot...Claimed two back and then perhaps a little ambitiously spotted. Drops and should compete today.
Miss Park Place.
THIRD RACE
Two Bayou... Won a similar event last time. Has some good wet track form. Right back.
Gold Dancer...Second to top pick last time.
Take Me There...Comes in with a nice race over the track.
Special Tactics.
FOURTH RACE
Actaeon...Will be tough if able to improve off first 2004 start.
Total Advantage...Preferred half of Gill/Shuman entry. Should be ready for this after going 5F in last two.
Notorious Rogue...Looked promising prior to Florida derby try. Went well on this track last summer.
Grand Score.
FIFTH RACE
Maharishi...Working well for debut.
Remuneration...Firster for Pletcher/Velasquez.
Storied Cat...The one to beat -- but Lukas is on a cold spell, so we'll try to beat him.
Datsyuk.
SIXTH RACE
Off turf.
Ginny's Queen...Question mark -- was last due to second-start improvement, or move to grass? If this one stays with the switch to the main track we'll hope the trainer feels the horse has simply gotten the hang of it.
Miss Baba...Won an off-turfer three back. Jock's a little cold although he got off the duck yesterday.
Priscilla's Flag...Top two in the stake last time just ran away from the rest so last is better than it looks. MTO entrants always worth a look when race moves to MT.
Raffie's Storm.
Also, Sassy Again, Pierian Spring, Laughing.
SEVENTH RACE
Midway Road...Banged the year's top Beyer over a sloppy Keenelandtrack this spring.
Free of Love...Looks to be in good, improving form since spring. Picks up Bailey.
Ground Storm...8YO was claimed last time. Capable of competing in here and loves this track.
Private City.
EIGHTH RACE
Friendly Island...Pletcher seems to have a very nice NY-bred -- but question mark remains the 7Fs.
Rhumjar...Might be ready to fire a god one.
Dixie Bourbon...Expect a rebound to good form with cutback to sprint.
Bubba Sparks.
NINTH RACE -- Hopeful G1 $250K
Afleet Alex...Undefeated in three tries including a G2 over this track last time.
Devils Disciple...These Florida shippers are always hard to ignore. Comes in off of a couple of impressive stakes wins -- last over the slop.
Flamenco...Finished second behind Afleet alex in the Sanford.
Consolidator.
TENTH RACE -- Alabama G1 $750K
Ashado...Ready to put a stranglehold on the division with a win today. 4-4 over off tracks. 2-2 on this strip.
Yearly Report...Baffert's Cal-bred has done little wrong this year.
Society Selection...A real "Wow" effort winning the G1 Test in the mud.
Susan's Angel.
