YOU ARE THERE Check out the new YOU ARE THERE feature. We bring you the action, both on-track and off, for the entire Saratoga race meet.
Dark day. No racing.
Today
We'll be kind of surprised if this is another "chalky" day. The card seems very competitive and wide-open throughout.
FIRST RACE
Impressive Soldier...The trainer is shooting an oh-fer, which is always a concern this last in the meet, but this guy drops in for a tag and looks to be competitive off of last two efforts.
Showdown...Seemed to enjoy the turf in only try and takes a significant drop.
Succeedre...Should be closing late.
Nolimosforyou.
Pine For Tate.
SECOND RACE
On The Bus...Has license to improve off of decent turf try in debut. Picks up Bailey. Won't have to move forward a whole lot to beat this bunch.
Puma's Pride...Seems to perhaps be rounding into decent form -- well, for this level of competition anyway.
Crafty Nat...Third start of season. Turf-to-dirt. Might surprise.
Sovereignoftheseas.
THIRD RACE
Omega Code...Big G3 win last time indicates this one might be a smidge better than these -- but is that smidge enough to overcome the long layoff? We'll see...
Sunray Spirit...Put together two solid 101 Beyer efforts after adding Lasix.
Don Six...Super start to career earlier this year. Hasn't remained constant this summer however. Could be tough if able to round back to previous good form.
Pinch Hitter.
FOURTH RACE
Relato Del Gato...Seems like trainer Miss Rice might be hitting stride. Solid works for debut.
Coaxed...Pletcher/Velasquez duo make this guy the one to beat.
Cat Buster...Trainer knows how to handle the 2YOs.
Temescal Ridge.
FIFTH RACE
Winlocs Glory Days...In an event not jumping off the page as an exceptional 2YO field -- at least this one has a decent just-miss debut to brag about. Must get in off of AE list.
Crimson...Gets a nod due to strong grass trainer being in charge.
Alexi Dancer...Expect improvement with blinkers and move to the weeds.
Miss Bergdorf.
Natural Glory.
El Prado's Gal.
SIXTH RACE
Little Bonnet...Toss out the troubled G1 CCA try and this miss from Pletcher fits here.
Bo's Sister...In a NW2 event this one comes in with six wins under belt -- albeit the last three straight in claimers.
Cloakof Vagueness...Will be tough if able to repeat last -- but question is whether that might have been aided by wet track.
Ashraaf.
SEVENTH RACE
Pieria...Mott filly is lightly raced but looks to be improving. Should make presence felt in the lane.
Lojo...Has been fairly competitive since springtime. Should go well again.
Voodoo Lady...Move back into alw company and reuniting with Mr Day could be enough to get her a "W".
Pillow Talk.
Dreamers Glory.
EIGHTH RACE
Acceptable Venture...Win over this oval on 8/4 should set him up well for this.
Traffic Chief...Used front-running tactics to take NY Derby last time out. In a short field that game plan might work again.
Go Rockin' Robin...Won the G2 Peter Pan. Hasn't quite lived up to that effort in three tries since -- but is clearly capable on best.
Spite The Devil.
NINTH RACE
Rayon...Mott/Bailey together again on turf. Improving sort should handle the marathon trip.
Go Deputy...Pletcher/Velasquez turfer should give a good account of self in third lifetime start if able to get in from AE list.
Saint Stephen...Broke maiden two back and then ran well in G3 stake. Clement trainee would be no surprise in the winner's circle.
Sleeping Potion.
Kyungbokung.
Romantic Virginian.
Invocador.
