Yesterday

4-9. A nice afternoon. The season has been plenty "chalky" and we've benefitted from a lot of those short prices -- but we've also been willing to veer away from the faves when appropriate. Monday we managed to score with a 5-1 and a 6-1 and we were photo'd out of our pick of Ecclesiastic who was 8-1 ML -- although he eventually went off closer to 7-2. Still, a decent return on straight win wagers of $38.70 for a $2W bet on each of the nine top picks.

Winners in the 1st (13.20), 6th (15.20), 7th (4.20), and 9th (6.10). We did pick up a few gimmicks -- but the most likely large score on the card might have been the Pick 4. We had three of the four winners as our top pick and Prima Green, the 4-1 winner of the 8th, was our third choice -- a selection we thought offered enough value to play WPS over on Bankroll Challenge page. The Pick 4 paid $637.00/$2).

On-track, 21,116 showed up and enjoyed a very nice afteroon of racing. Sunny and warm.

Later on Monday night there were strollers walking on Broadway and plenty of folks enjoying the outdoor bistros and bars downtown as the weather could best be described as lazy summer-perfect. We swung by Hurricane Sam's on Caroline St to watch the weekly Jockey Karaoke -- which benefits various racing charities -- but we either missed the jockeys, or there weren't too many. By the time we joined the fun the karaoke'rs were just the regular folks...
