3-9. Winners on top in the 3rd (4.80), 4th (5.50), and 7th (5.60). We also had our top pick over for the exacta ($21.00/$2) in the 3rd. A few other gimmicks and picks were available playing around with the picks.
On-track 15,392 showed up for what might have been the nicest weather day of the meet so far.
The rains came overnight and early word is that there will be no turf racing.
On-track today there will be a salute to the late Harry Downey. Area residents will remember Downey as the affable, long-time radio broadcaster from WGY. He was a fan of racing and often did his broadcast from the track during the Saratoga race meet.
For the kids, the Hannaford Friday Family Fun Tent, is open all day in the backyard -- activities include arts and crafts, clowns, and miniature.
And from noon-2pm in the Pony Tales gift shop, author Frank Scatoni will be on hand to sign books: Finished Lines: A Collection of Memorable Writing on Thoroughbred Racing.
All selections Friday are for the main track.
I Love The Organ...One of the strongest angles is a MSW dropping into a mdn clm -- and this one gave a good try in that MSW debut.
Royal Magician...Dutrow shipper from Md has been working well.
Corinthian Star...Also dropping from MSW -- third behind the very good Feline Story last time.
Catalita...Pletcher runner is MTO entrant and should go well this level.
Takeiteasyedye...Should find the drop to her liking and Bailey might go from the break and make her tough to catch.
Schosberg entry...Belongs Fast as done well on a wet track at this price before. Estrada, MTO entrant.
Nice Canter...McGaughey filly has some decent experience over an off-track.
Hard As Nails...Would be top pick except for dull effort in only wet-track try. However, they're always eligible to throw in a clunker and until she strings a couple poor off-track efforts together it's hard to know.
Forever Now...Hennig runner has been consistent so far, including an off-track start last time.
Beauty On Duty.
Malhoof...Expect a good try in third start and has the speed to be well-placed early.
Siesmic Sensation...Also has some speed and might like the main track if they leave him in.
Woodnote...Solid debut and likely to improve.
Flower forest...Very impressive debut. Doesn't necessarily need to move forward -- but any improvement will make her tough in second start and first try around two-turns.
Honorable Cat...Could be tough to catch if able to get an easy lead.
Cloakof Vagueness...Usually in the hunt.
Rhumb Line...Was riding a solid three-race streak before faltering in G1 Mother Goose. Expect a rebound to good form with move back to alw company.
She's Zealous...Makes third start off bench. Last was very impressive. Question mark because of dull effort in slop.
Marc's Rainbow...Plenty of speed and some good tries on wet tracks.
Shaky Town...Blasted a gorgeous, big-time win in second start. Certainly looks capable of moving through the condition against this bunch.
Halo Malone...Check out the percentage and ROI for this trainer stretching out.
Clever Electrician...Trainer is solid coming off the claim.
Shine Again...Ran second in this event last year over an off-track. Solid numbers on the track and at the trip.
Shawklit Mint...Always moves way, way up over a wet track.
Wila On The Move...Always in the hunt.
Kid Kaelin...Seems to be improving slightly since spring. Has the pace ability to be in front or stalk.
Knievel...Scary runner from Pletcher. Should like this claiming level.
Announce Me...MTO entrant is tough when in a running mood.
